Colegio Estudiantes Las Tablas is a state-subsidised bilingual school in Las Tablas, in the north of Madrid, and it takes children from the age of one to the end of bachillerato, with three vocational programmes on top: sports animation, early childhood education, and administration and finance. There are plenty of languages: Spanish is the main one, English runs by immersion from Infantil with native conversation assistants, and from year three of primary Chinese is added (the school is an authorised Confucius Institute centre) with French and German as options. In secondary, some subjects - science and physical education - are taught in English. The school checks its English side against Cambridge: it is the first state-subsidised school in Spain with Cambridge Assessment International Education certification and runs Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Lower Secondary. It describes its method in its own words: active methods and multiple intelligences in the younger years, the flipped classroom in secondary and in bachillerato, where pupils lead the lesson themselves and Google Workspace replaces textbooks (except in English). Bachillerato offers two tracks with two or three strands each and ends in preparation for the university entrance exam, and the school states the result plainly: a 100 per cent pass rate in 2023-2024. Among its services the school has its own canteen with special diets and two bus routes - Montecarmelo and San Sebastián de los Reyes with Alcobendas; separately it runs classes for parents, from an antenatal course to a monthly parents' school at 30 euros a term. About the rest of its facilities, its pupil numbers, its teaching staff and its student support service the school says nothing on the pages read.

About the fees The school is state-subsidised, which means the teaching itself is funded from public money while the family pays for the school's educational project and for additional services. The school's own fee notice for 2024-25 gives monthly figures from September to June inclusive: 189 euros for Infantil, 194 for primary, 194 for secondary - that is 1890 to 1940 euros over the ten months of the school year, and that is the range shown here. On top of it, charged monthly, come the "virtual college" at 26.30 euros, the nurse with accident insurance at 42.90 euros, the canteen at 161 euros for a full month or 11.50 euros a day, and the bus at 154 euros return, 110 euros one way, 7.90 euros a day, with feeder services from 21 to 124 euros depending on the area. Once a year there is school clothing at 75 euros (compulsory in Infantil and the first two years of primary), materials at 107 euros in Infantil, 96 in primary and 113 in secondary, teaching resources from 311 to 399 euros by stage, and a voluntary contribution of 75 euros. The notice says nothing about fees for bachillerato, for the vocational programmes or for the first Infantil cycle (children under two): it covers only the subsidised stages.
Admissions The school is state-funded, and admission to its state-funded stages goes through the Virtual Secretariat of the Community of Madrid, under the general rules for allocating places; on its admission page for 2026-2027 the school posts the enrolment documents for each stage - nursery, Infantil, Primaria, Secundaria, bachillerato and the IB bachillerato - and a voluntary contribution form. The Estudiantes Nursery School takes children from four months to two years: the family joins a list of those interested and gets priority access when enrolment opens. For the national, international and dual American bachillerato the school asks families to write to it by email. The school names no entrance tests and no conditions for foreigners.
Stages and year groups Grades Infantil from age 1 - year 2 of bachillerato, plus three vocational programmes. The stages run right through: Infantil in two cycles from one to five, primary from six to eleven, secondary from twelve to fifteen, bachillerato at sixteen and seventeen. Above the school cycle comes vocational training: sports animation, early childhood education, administration and finance, with enrolment from 12 June to 15 September. The bachillerato day runs from 8:30 to 14:25, six periods with a long break, and it can be extended with lunch and extra classes in mathematics and science and in languages.

What stands behind each entry

CambridgeCambridge International Education

Part of the University of Cambridge. It allows a school to teach the Cambridge programmes and to enter pupils for the exams. There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level. If the stages are known they are named in the line below; if that line is missing, the school does not publish them, and the Cambridge registry does not show stages either - it gives only the name of the centre, the country and whether private candidates are accepted. Cambridge calls what it does registration rather than accreditation, and the network holds about ten thousand schools.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: Primary (ages 5-11), Lower Secondary (ages 11-14). Primary is the primary stage, ages 5 to 11: English, mathematics and science to Cambridge syllabuses. At the end of the stage a school may run the optional Checkpoint test, which is marked in Cambridge. Lower Secondary is the middle stage, ages 11 to 14, with the same optional Checkpoint test at the end.

National programme

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.

What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Reviews

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
