EIDE is a state international school opened by Luxembourg's Ministry of Education in the south of the country. It is an Accredited European School: linked to the European Schools system by an accreditation agreement, it teaches the European Schools curriculum from nursery (M1, from age 4) to the final year S7 and the European Baccalaureate. The school says it serves children from immigrant families, any pupil wishing to grow in an international setting, and children living in Luxembourg temporarily who will continue their education in another country. There are three sections: French and English from nursery to S7, German in secondary only; all subjects except languages are taught in the section language, and physical education in secondary is always in Luxembourgish. Pupils can take their mother tongue (L1) in French, English, German, Portuguese, Spanish or Italian; oral Luxembourgish is compulsory for everyone in primary and in S1-S3. Alongside the European programme the school runs a preparatory track VP1-VP3 and ACCU integration classes under Luxembourg rules. There are three sites: two buildings in Differdange, a building in Esch-sur-Alzette and integration classes in Schifflange. The home page gives 2450 pupils of 105 nationalities and 261 teachers.

About the fees The school writes: "Unlike the European Schools currently established in Luxembourg, EIDE is open to all pupils, with no registration fees" (original: "Contrairement aux écoles européennes actuellement établies au Luxembourg, l'EIDE est ouverte à tous les élèves, sans frais d'inscription"). The school has no pupil categories with different fees.
Admissions The school says it is "open to all pupils, with no registration fees" (original: "L'EIDE est ouverte à tous les élèves, sans frais d'inscription") and primarily targets children from Differdange, Esch-sur-Alzette and the south of the country, children from immigrant families and children living in Luxembourg temporarily. Pupils enrol in the section of their mother tongue or dominant language; if there is none, they join one of the sections (German, English or French) and study their mother tongue as L1 under the SWALS scheme. The L1 is set by the Director, if in doubt through comparative language tests, and the decision is in principle final. New pupils apply from 1 to 15 March; applications for M1, P1, S1, VP1 and ACCU have priority, while P2-P5, S2-S5 and VP2-VP3 are full and a place opens only exceptionally.
Stages and year groups Grades M1-M2, P1-P5, S1-S7, VP1-VP3, ACCU. Language sections: French (M1-S7), English (M1-S7) and German (secondary only). European track: 2 years of nursery, 5 years of primary and 7 years of secondary under the European Schools' curricula, promotion criteria and timetables; it leads to the European Baccalaureate, which the school calls "recognised throughout Europe" (original: "reconnu dans toute l'Europe"). The preparatory track VP1-VP3 and ACCU integration classes follow the rules of Luxembourg technical secondary education. According to the school offer table for 2025-2026: Differdange has nursery, primary and secondary in the French and English sections plus German-section secondary; Esch-sur-Alzette has primary, lower secondary and the preparatory track; Schifflange has ACCU classes.

European SchoolsThe European Union's European Schools (Schola Europaea)
An intergovernmental system of European Union schools with its own curriculum and its own certificate, the European Baccalaureate. It runs thirteen schools of its own, and national schools gain the status of Accredited European School after an audit with a visit by inspectors. The certificate is recognised for university entry in every EU country.
What the badge means for this school. The school runs the European Schools curriculum, and this can be checked in the system's lists at eursc.eu. The system's own schools are checked by inspectors from EU countries, accredited schools pass an in-school audit, and accreditation is renewed every three years. Whether the school awards the European Baccalaureate, and whom it admits, is stated on its own page. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

The European Union's European Schools curriculum from nursery to the final year, with the European Baccalaureate as the leaving certificate. Teaching is in language sections, and a second language is compulsory from primary school.
What this means for this school. The curriculum and the certificate are set by the European Schools system, whose Board of Governors is made up of the education ministers of the EU countries. European Baccalaureate papers are marked by the teacher and an external examiner, and the certificate is recognised for university entry in every EU country and in several others. A school may award it only if it is one of the system's own schools or is accredited for the senior years.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
