A City of Espoo upper secondary school in Tapiola, "an internationally oriented general upper secondary school with focus on economics and social sciences", preparing students for law, business and political science; it also has a LUMA science emphasis and upper secondary diplomas in visual arts, physical education and music. The school's predecessor was the private Hakalehdon yhteiskoulu, opened in 1963; it was municipalised in 1977, and since 2000 the school has occupied the WeeGee building. Alongside the Finnish-language general line, "ETIS has hosted a separate IB-programme since 2009"; the first IB graduates finished in spring 2012, and the school describes itself as one of the seventeen IB schools in Finland. The school states that its ylioppilastutkinto results, especially in mathematics, have long been among the best in the country. Students can take the German DSD I and DSD II exams; there is a summer exchange with Germany, study trips to Rome, Krakow, CERN and Nepal, Erasmus+ projects and university courses in Espoo. Language of instruction stated by the school: the general line in Finnish, the IB line, including the preparatory year, in English.

About the fees The school is municipal; it does not write about tuition for Finnish and EU students. From August 2026 students who have arrived from outside the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland or live on a student residence permit pay an annual fee of "at minimum the unit price of central government transfers" (about 8500 EUR for Espoo in 2026); the school writes that it is likely to be 10300 EUR per school year (VAT 0%), but "The exact amount of the tuition fee has not been decided yet." Exempt are citizens of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, permanent residence permit holders and exchange students.
Admissions Admission through the joint application yhteishaku (Opintopolku): in spring 2026, 140 places in the general line and 50 in the IB line. Selection by the grade 9 grade point average; "We no longer test applicants", and for applicants from Finnish schools mathematics and English grades count double. Minimum averages in 2026: general line 8.83, IB line 8.86 (in 2025, 9.00 and 9.00). Applicants from outside the Finnish system are assessed on school reports and teacher appraisals through discretionary selection; "Competition for places is intense." The school admits foreigners: priority goes to "families relocating due to job opportunities or families returning to their homeland"; "We will only consider for admission students under the age of 18" living locally with family or a legal guardian, and "Students living with their parents take priority." Direct entry to DP1 is possible only for rare vacancies. From August 2026 tuition is charged to students who have arrived in Finland from outside the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland or who live on a student residence permit (see price).
Stages and year groups Grades three upper secondary years: general line towards the ylioppilastutkinto; IB line: pre-DP and IB Diploma Programme (DP1-DP2). Two parallel programmes in one school. The Finnish-language general line follows the national lukio curriculum and ends with the ylioppilastutkinto. IB line: the preparatory pre-DP year follows the Finnish national curriculum but is taught in English, followed by the two-year IB Diploma Programme in English; "At least seven students are required to subscribe to a subject in order for courses to run." No other IB programmes (PYP, MYP, CP) appear on the website.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: DP (ages 16-19). DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

More than two thousand schools in about 120 countries. A school cannot apply for itself: participants are chosen by German agencies in agreement with the embassy. Very different schools sit under one mark - full German schools abroad, and ordinary national schools that simply teach German well.
What the badge means for this school. The school belongs to a German support programme. By itself the mark means neither a German curriculum nor the right to award a German certificate: of the two thousand PASCH schools, about seventeen hundred hold no such right. Look for a ZfA status next to it - that is the one that is about this. The entry is confirmed in the organisation's open directory.

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
