The Mosè Bianchi institute is a state upper secondary school in Monza, created by royal decree on 11 May 1938 as a commercial technical school and named after a Monza painter. From the 1950s it trained accountants and surveyors, later programmers; in the 1980s it had up to 2500 students, and its branches became independent schools across Brianza. Since 2008-2009, after opening a liceo linguistico, it has been called Istituto Statale di Istruzione Superiore. It now has a liceo linguistico (English plus French, Spanish, German or Chinese) and technical tracks: administration, finance and marketing, information systems with a networks and cybersecurity focus, tourism, and construction and land; there are evening courses for adults and a school at San Gerardo hospital. About 1160 students attend in the daytime. The main language of instruction is Italian. The school is a Cambridge International School: in the liceo linguistico and the tourism track some subjects follow Cambridge IGCSE syllabuses in English, and extracurricular IGCSE and A Level courses in mathematics, English, economics and other subjects are open to all.

About the fees The school is a state school and tuition is free. The school gives no amount for Cambridge course charges or IGCSE and A Level exam fees. State school taxes are paid in grades 4-5.
Admissions Grade 1 enrolment follows the state online procedure (for 2026-2027 from 13 January to 21 February 2026). If places are short, priority goes to students repeating a year, children with disabilities, siblings of students, then residents of Monza, nearby Brianza towns, the province of Milan and other provinces; ties are settled by lot. In the liceo linguistico the language combinations are English with Spanish and French, French and Spanish, Spanish and German, or German, French or Spanish and Chinese. Extracurricular Cambridge courses admit students after an English entrance test. The school says the share of students with foreign citizenship is around the national average, most have lived in Italy for years, and those with difficulties in Italian receive language support.
Stages and year groups Grades 1-5 scuola secondaria di secondo grado. Five-year programmes on the Italian curriculum with the esame di Stato: liceo linguistico (three languages, one hour a week of conversation with a native speaker in each; one subject in a foreign language from grade 3, two from grade 4) and technical tracks Amministrazione, Finanza e Marketing, Sistemi Informativi Aziendali (networks and cybersecurity), Turismo, Costruzioni, Ambiente e Territorio; evening courses for adults. Cambridge in the curriculum: in the liceo linguistico since 2019-2020 an extra hour each of mathematics, Latin and English (5 hours, one with a native speaker) - IGCSE Mathematics, English as a Second Language, Latin, with exams at the end of grade 2; in tourism - IGCSE English as a Second Language and Geography, one extra hour each, with exams at the end of grade 2 or start of grade 3. Extracurricular for all: IGCSE Mathematics, English as a Second Language and Economics, Latin or Global Perspectives in grades 1-2; A Level Mathematics, English Language and Economics or History in grades 3-4, 60 hours a year each; exams in June or November, results count towards the school credit.

Accreditations and programmes verified against official registries

The Cambridge register names the school as its centre; it teaches Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A Level. IGCSE is built into the language liceo (Mathematics, ESL, Latin) and the tourism course (ESL, Geography); any student can also take after-school IGCSEs in years 1-2 and A Levels in years 3-4.

What stands behind each entry

CambridgeCambridge International Education

Part of the University of Cambridge. It allows a school to teach the Cambridge programmes and to enter pupils for the exams. There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level. If the stages are known they are named in the line below; if that line is missing, the school does not publish them, and the Cambridge registry does not show stages either - it gives only the name of the centre, the country and whether private candidates are accepted. Cambridge calls what it does registration rather than accreditation, and the network holds about ten thousand schools.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: IGCSE (ages 14-16), A-Level (ages 16-18). IGCSE means exams at around Year 10 or 11, the British counterpart of a lower secondary leaving certificate. A-Level is the senior years, and their results are what British and many other universities admit on.

National programme

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.

What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
