International School Kufstein Tirol (ISK Tirol) is a private Catholic grammar school with public status (Öffentlichkeitsrecht) in Kufstein, on the border with Bavaria. Its owner is Hochschule Kufstein Tirol Privatstiftung, the foundation of the local university of applied sciences, and its partner is the Archdiocese of Salzburg; the school is a "non-profit school" built right into the university campus in the town centre. ISK was founded in 2014 and teaching began in September 2015 with one class of 22 students; in the 2025/26 school year it has about 370 students in 16 classes and 43 teachers, half Austrian and half international. The language of instruction is English: "Unterrichtssprache ist Englisch", except in German and Spanish lessons; in the first year some subjects are taught in two languages. The lower school (5-8) follows a curriculum based on the IB Middle Years Programme, the upper school (9-12) follows the Austrian Realgymnasium curriculum, extended with the MYP in years 9-10 and combined with the IB Diploma Programme in years 11-12; graduates receive both the Matura and the IB Diploma. It is an all-day school and lunch is included in the fee. About a quarter of families (26%) receive tuition support.

Admissions The school admits everyone regardless of background: "Die ISK Tirol steht allen Schülerinnen und Schülern offen, unabhängig von ihrer sozialen, kulturellen oder religiösen Herkunft" (open to all students regardless of social, cultural or religious background); a comparable level of education abroad is accepted ("oder eines vergleichbaren Bildungsgrades im Herkunftsland"), and the school says it is attractive to international families. Procedure: an application form with documents, then an interview of the head with parents and child: "Das Interview hat keinen Prüfungscharakter" (the interview is not an exam). The school looks for motivated students with good marks; for year 5, successful completion of primary year 4 (AHS-Reife), for year 9, completion of the Mittelschule or AHS-Unterstufe and good English. Entry into other years is possible at the head's discretion, and a waiting list is kept when places run out. Registration for the 2027/28 school year opens on 1 November 2026.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: MYP (ages 11-16), DP (ages 16-19). MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible. DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
