The International School of the Gothenburg Region (ISGR) is an international school in Göteborg for students aged 5 to 16, owned by the Gothenburg Region Association of Local Authorities. It has two sections. The International Section teaches IB programmes in English: the PYP from the Foundation year (age 5) to PYP 5 and the MYP for ages 11-16 (MYP 1-5); the school has offered the MYP since 2000 and the PYP since 2003, and has been CIS accredited since 2008. The Swedish National Section follows the national curriculum Lgr22 from preschool class to grade 9, and with permission from Skolinspektionen up to half of its teaching may be in English. Both sections share two campuses: younger students in Guldheden, middle years in Götaberg. Students represent 48 nationalities and 53 home languages, staff 32 nationalities. According to Skolverket data on year 9 final grades, the school ranked third in Göteborg and 66th of 1581 schools in Sweden. The International Section charges fees; the Swedish section is free.

About the fees The International Section charges fees: the annual school fee for 2026-2027 is 49900 SEK per student; private payers are invoiced per term, companies annually, and instalments are possible. The fee is the same regardless of nationality, Swedish families also pay. If the student is not registered in Göteborg with a Swedish personal number, the school may not receive government funding, and the full educational cost may then be charged to the family or employer. There is no general financial aid; a sibling discount is available. The Swedish section is free.
Admissions The International Section (PYP and MYP) accepts applications all year through the online system and reviews them within 2-3 weeks; a place must be confirmed within 14 days. Under the Swedish Education Act a student must meet at least one criterion: living in the Gothenburg Region for a confirmed limited period; having spent a significant part of their education abroad; relocating abroad within 12-18 months; speaking English daily at home with sufficient skills to follow the education. If places are limited, priority follows this order, first of all families relocating to Göteborg, particularly with children from international schools. Required: passport, school reports, a language form, proof of relocation or employment, and a Swedish personal number or tax registration confirmation. Age is counted on 31 August; MYP 5 applicants must have prior IB or other recognised international curriculum experience. Swedish families may also apply to the IB section. The Swedish section accepts applications from 1 October to 7 December for the following year; the queue is set by a lottery conducted by a notary, with priority for siblings of current section students and then residents of Centrum, Majorna/Linné and Örgryte/Härlanda. New students are admitted to preschool class and grade 4 (28 each) and grade 7 (4 places); other grades only when a place becomes available.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), MYP (ages 11-16). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible.

It accredits international schools and is a paying association at the same time. It examines governance and ownership, the curriculum, teaching, student wellbeing, staff and premises; a team of volunteers from other CIS accredited schools visits the school. Membership and accreditation are different things here, and schools confuse them more often than anything else.
What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
