A British school in Tirana, in the Lundër area, opened in 2018. It teaches children aged 5 to 18 on a British curriculum with Pearson Edexcel examinations: primary is Years 1-6, lower secondary Years 7-9, upper secondary Years 10-13, with two years of GCSE followed by two years of A Level. The school is a Pearson Edexcel examination centre and a registered UCAS centre that sends its students' applications to UK universities itself. All subjects are taught only in English, as the school states plainly in its FAQ; the exceptions are the second modern language and the Albanian subjects. For Albanian students the school offers a dual pathway: alongside GCSE and A Level they study Albanian language, history and geography of Albania and sit Provimet e Lirimit and Matura Shtetërore, with bilingual subject support and exam preparation from the school. For graduates of Albanian state schools whose Matura alone does not give entry to UK universities there is the Degree Pathway Diploma, a Pearson Assured qualification. The second modern language in primary and lower secondary is German, French or Turkish; the GCSE and A Level alternative subjects also include Italian, Spanish and Greek. Students with weak English get an English as an Additional Language programme, international students can learn Albanian as a second language, and expat children can schedule native-language lessons. Progress is checked every trimester with Pearson Edexcel standardised assessments. The school day runs from 08:00 to 15:20, after-school activities until 16:10. Students belong to four houses: Lady Diana, Fleming, Lennon and Brontë. The school says it is fully accredited by the Albanian Government and, in its accreditation section, links to decision No. 482 of 31 July 2018 in the official register of Albanian legal acts, next to the Pearson Edexcel centre finder. Students can continue GCSE or A Level at British colleges of the same group in London, Brighton, Bournemouth and Oxford.

Admissions The school admits both Albanian and international students: it takes international students provided they meet its academic and language requirements. There is no boarding, the child must live with parents or a guardian; the school does not sponsor visas or appoint guardians, parents arrange visas and residency, and the school does not arrange accommodation but gives general relocation advice. Applications are made online with documents, followed by assessments and interviews where applicable. The school expects academic potential, a strong work ethic, acceptance of its values and compliance with enrolment regulations. Year 1 takes children who turn 5 no later than 31 December, Year 2 children who turn 6 by the same date. Transfers from other schools, including from IB, AP and the Albanian curriculum, are accepted subject to availability, mid-year with an academic assessment and a review of previous school records. Non-Albanian speakers do not have to study Albanian: instead they take Albanian for foreigners, targeted learning support or directed study. Weak English is supported by the English as an Additional Language programme, with sessions after lessons from 15:25 to 16:10.

What stands behind each entry

PearsonPearson Edexcel, a British exam board

It gives a school approved centre status: that means Pearson exams can be sat in the school itself. What is checked is the premises, the equipment, the secure storage of papers and the presence of trained invigilators.

What the badge means for this school. The school can run Pearson exams on its own premises. The status says nothing about teaching, about results or about the school itself: any school able to run an exam securely holds it. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: IGCSE (ages 14-16), A-Level (ages 16-18). IGCSE means exams at around Year 10 or 11, the British counterpart of a lower secondary leaving certificate. A-Level is the senior years, and their results are what British and many other universities admit on.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
