Col·legi Lestonnac l'Ensenyança is a school of the Company of Mary (Companyia de Maria, 21 schools in Spain) in the historic centre of Tarragona, and its own history begins more than three centuries ago: the school has never stopped being a school, and all that time it has stood in the same building. From the very beginning it had a boarding house for girls - in the seventeenth century that was an innovation. The school was free from its foundation, lost that with the Mendizábal disestablishment in the nineteenth century and regained it in the second half of the twentieth through agreements with the Generalitat of Catalonia; admission to the stages under agreement goes through the Catalan preinscripció system, school code 43003483. The stages run right through: two nursery sites - in the school itself and Baobab-Lestonnac on Carrer Joan Fuster i Ortells - Infantil, Primària, Secundària and three routes at the upper stage: the national baccalaureate, the Bat Dual double certificate and the IB Diploma, which the school awards together with the Catalan certificate. Beyond the school stages there is a vocational cycle in early years education and a preparatory course for teaching degrees. The school lists four languages - Catalan, Castilian, English and German - with special emphasis on English; English immersion begins in the nursery, and in the third year of ESO there is an exchange with Germany. The school does not name the language of lessons outright; all its pages for parents and admissions are written in Catalan, and the conclusion that teaching is in Catalan is drawn from that. The main thing a parent needs to know: the IB Diploma here is an upper-stage choice on top of the national certificate, not the programme of the whole school.

Admissions The school admits foreigners through the general procedure: in its own guide to applying, the applicant identifies themselves with a DNI, an NIE, a passport or an identity document of a European Union country, and when applying without a digital signature the passport or EU identity document is attached to the application. For Infantil, Primària and Secundària admission goes through the Catalan preinscripció: the application is made on the Generalitat's site with a list of preferred schools, giving the place of residence, siblings and any special educational needs, and attaching a birth certificate, the family book or an RALC number; the school publishes the points and the tie-break draw as separate files. For the nursery families sign up through a personal interview, and for the vocational cycle through a registration form. Admission to the batxillerat for the 2027-28 school year the school promises to announce later. The school names no requirement to know Catalan or Spanish and no homologation of documents; it has an aula d'acollida, but its purpose is not set out on its page.
Stages and year groups Grades nursery from age 0 - baccalaureate, plus a vocational cycle in early years education. Llar d'Infants for children aged 0, 1 and 2 on two sites (in the school and Baobab-Lestonnac), with early care from 7:30 and late care until 18:00; Infantil, Primària, Secundària and the baccalaureate in three forms: national, Bat Dual with a double certificate, and the IB Diploma. Beyond that the school runs a vocational cycle in early years education (Cicle Formatiu de Grau Superior) and a preparatory course for teaching degrees (PAP).

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: DP (ages 16-19). DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.
Register to check for yourself, and the full guide →National programme
The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.
Exams and destinations from the school's official website
The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Campus: A single historic building in the centre of Tarragona in which the school has stood for more than three centuries, and the separate Baobab-Lestonnac nursery. The facilities page lists a "classroom of the future", spaces for scientific and technological development, shared spaces and outdoor areas. The canteen runs Monday to Friday from 13 to 15, by the month or occasionally through tablets at the entrance, with gluten-free, lactose-free and egg-free menus, a vegetarian menu and a plant-based allergen-free one.
Clubs and activities (5): Music school (instruments and choir) · Gimme 5 (English immersion for early years) · Character creation workshop · Intro to comics workshop · English
Summer camp: the school runs its own camp; whether it takes children from outside is not stated on the website
The XALA! Lestonnac summer camp runs in the school building from 29 June to 31 July for children aged 3 to 12, with registration through a form on the site. The camp page gives no hours, programme or price, and does not say whether children from other schools are taken.
Teaching staff
The school publishes neither the number of its teachers nor their qualifications.
Safety and wellbeing from the school's official website
The school says nothing on its website about security, medical care or pupil support.
Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
