Los Sauces Vigo stands not in Vigo itself but in the municipality of Mos, next to the University City of Vigo (CUVI). It is one of the five schools of the private secular Los Sauces network, which began in 1974 with a kindergarten in Madrid; the Vigo campus opened in September 1994. Teaching is bilingual, Spanish and English, from the second cycle of kindergarten to bachillerato: from primary year 1 not only language lessons but also natural and social science are taught in English, from year 4 French or German is added, Galician the school teaches as the second official language, and Chinese it offers as an extracurricular activity. The network keeps its own school in Dublin, and pupils of primary years 5 and 6 and ESO years 1 and 2 spend a month of the school year there; in ESO year 4 there is an exchange with the USA, and there is an American dual diploma. For the IB Diploma Programme the school, in its own words, is still a candidate, not an authorised school. The list of clubs and sports, the canteen menus and the transport rules the network describes on pages common to all its schools. The school does not publish its fees.

Admissions The school does not set out an enrolment procedure for the younger classes on its site and invites families to contact it by telephone or through the form. The network's language policy, which also covers the Vigo school, says that children from other countries with another mother tongue often study there, and for those who do not speak Spanish there is a support programme with supervised and independent work. Admission to the IB Diploma Programme follows an interview with the coordinator, a review of the pupil's profile by teachers, a check of English (a level of B1 or higher is recommended) and guidance tests; pupils from other schools may sit entrance tests in Spanish, mathematics and English, and enrolment requires the final marks of ESO year 4. A separate network programme for foreign pupils from 13 to 17 with accommodation runs in the residence in Pontevedra, not in Vigo.
Stages and year groups Grades second cycle of kindergarten (from 3 years) - bachillerato year 2. The stages: the second cycle of kindergarten, primary school, ESO and bachillerato, all bilingual. From primary year 1 natural and social science are taught in English, from year 4 French or German is added. In primary years 5 and 6 and ESO years 1 and 2 pupils spend a month at the network's school in Dublin; in ESO year 4 there is an exchange with the USA, in bachillerato an American dual diploma is offered, and the IB Diploma Programme the school is preparing as a candidate.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: DP (ages 16-19). DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.
Register to check for yourself, and the full guide →National programme
The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.
Los Saucesschool network
Los Sauces (Los Sauces Educational Institution) is a private school network that traces its history to October 1974, when it opened as a pre-school in Colonia El Viso, Madrid. The first Los Sauces private school opened in September 1981 in La Moraleja (Madrid), followed by the Torrelodones and Pontevedra schools in September 1991, Dublin in May 1992 and Vigo in September 1994. The site now lists five schools: four in Spain (La Moraleja, Torrelodones, Pontevedra, Vigo) and one in Ireland (Dublin). The network describes itself as non-denominational, apolitical and pluralist. It gives its experience differently on its own pages: "more than 40 years" on the Spanish page and "almost 40 years" on the English one. The network's site is colegiolossauces.com.
What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
