Lycée Français International de Murcia (named after André Malraux) is the only French school in the Murcia region, private, of international character, in the Altorreal estate in Molina de Segura. It opened in 1987, belongs to the Mission laïque française network, its programmes are recognised by the French ministry of education, and the school is recognised by the ministries of education of France and Spain. Children are taken from 2 years and taught up to Terminale, that is to 18 years. The basis is the French state programme and its values, with Spanish subjects added: the language, literature, history and geography of Spain; there are three languages - French, Spanish and English. Pupils sit the French Brevet and Baccalauréat, which also gives equivalence with the Spanish bachillerato, prepare for the Spanish PAU and sit DELF, DELE and Cambridge English exams; the school is an authorised Cambridge centre. By the school's account, in June 2025 everyone passed the Baccalauréat and the Brevet, 97% of graduates get into the university of their first choice, and about a third over the last three years went to study in France. The Averroès ranking placed the school 8th among French lycées abroad of its size, and El Mundo and El Español included it in lists of the best international schools in Spain. In middle and upper school there are exchanges of up to 6 weeks with French- and English-speaking countries. The director is Christophe Gallais.

What stands behind each entry

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad

It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.

What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

Mission laïque françaiseschool network

Mission laïque française (MLF) is a French non-profit association founded in 1902; its school network is called Réseau mlfmonde. The network gives different figures on its own pages - 108 schools in 38 countries on some, 107 schools in 37 countries on another, with more than 61,000 students in both cases - and we quote both. In Spain the network lists 10 lycées, in Alicante, Murcia, Palma, Reus, Seville, Telde (Gran Canaria), Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Valladolid, Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid) and Zaragoza. In a notice dated 21 September 2026, MLF writes that since 1 September 2026 the day-to-day management of its Spanish schools has been entrusted to the association AFLEC-GEE under a management mandate, refers to 9 schools, and says the legal transfer of each will be completed by 31 July 2028 at the latest. The notice does not say which of the ten schools is not among the nine. The network's site is mlfmonde.org.

What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
