Lycée Français International Georges Pompidou has been running in Dubai for more than fifty years and occupies two sites. The kindergarten has a school of its own in Oud Metha, in the historic centre of Dubai next to the Alliance Française and the French chamber of commerce: four hundred children in sixteen classes from Petite Section to Grande Section, twenty teachers and seventeen assistants, and six people in the canteen. The building was fully refurbished in 2014: large classrooms with computers and interactive whiteboards, shaded playgrounds with play structures, a medical room, a library, a gymnasium and a motor-skills room, and a teaching kitchen. The second site, Academic City, stands in Dubai's university district and holds two schools at once - the elementary school and the secondary with the senior years, that is the whole path from the first year to the final one: classrooms with computer equipment, a gymnasium, sports grounds, a swimming pool, well-stocked libraries and documentation centres, and areas for rest and cultural activities. The administration of the whole lycée sits there too. The curriculum is French and homologated, and it takes a pupil to the French baccalaureate or to the International French Baccalaureate, the BFI, bilingual or trilingual. The language policy is stated plainly: beyond French the school teaches command of at least three languages and supports English, Arabic, German and Spanish. Extracurricular activities run at every site and change each term - team and individual sport, art, personal development workshops - but the school publishes no list of them.
