Lycée Français Saint Louis de Stockholm (LFSL) is a French school in Stockholm founded in 1959, with a primary school, collège and lycée from CP to Terminale (ages 6-18). In 2025-2026, 694 students attended the part accredited by France: 318 in primary (16 classes), 249 in the collège (11 classes) and 127 in the lycée (6 classes); about 89 more children attend a Swedish preschool (förskola) with a French language orientation, outside the French accreditation. The school has an agreement with the AEFE, and its French accreditation (homologation) from CP to Terminale was renewed in summer 2026; the Swedish state recognises it as an international school. Teaching is in French following the French Ministry of Education curriculum; Swedish is taught to all from CP, English from CP, and German or Spanish is added from 5ème. Graduates earn the brevet, the French baccalauréat or the trilingual Baccalauréat Français International (French, Swedish, English); Swedish-speaking students can also earn the Swedish gymnasieexamen. In 2026 all candidates passed the baccalauréat and the brevet. The school is governed by a foundation under Swedish law. In primary, lunches, supplies, outings and projects are included. The full rate is 157590 SEK for 2026-2027: it applies to lycée students whose parents are not EU, EEA or Swiss nationals, to children in any year for whom the municipality has not guaranteed funding, and to families without a personnummer; part may be refunded if a subsidy is later received. The One Year in Stockholm programme, including school, host family, living costs and insurance, costs 24000-26000 EUR.
Admissions The school is open to children of all nationalities, but French proficiency is essential from CP (age 6). Its mission is to educate French children living in Sweden, local children and children of other nationalities whose families chose the French system. Places depend on class capacity; for CP to 3ème priority goes to children of French and foreign families in Sweden for a limited period coming from the French system, then siblings of current students, for CP children from the school's own preschool, then time on the waiting list. For the lycée priority goes to expatriate children from the French system and local children educated throughout in the French system. Children not from the French system take a level test. Required documents include proof of nationality, a certificate from the previous school, report cards and, on transfer, a leaving certificate (exeat). After an offer, a registration fee is paid and the financial regulations signed. Enrolment for 2026-2027 is closed. Preschool waiting list registration is through the City of Stockholm portal and requires a Swedish personnummer.

What stands behind each entry

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad

It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.

What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

French programme

The state programme of France. A school is homologated by the French ministry of education, and a leaver may move into a school in France without entrance tests. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.

What this means for this school. Which year groups of this school are covered by homologation - only the primary ones, or all the way to the final year - is not stated here. The difference matters: it decides whether the school takes a child through to the French baccalaureate or hands them on to another school halfway.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
