The Lycée français international Simone Veil (LfiSV), until 2022 the Lycée français de Düsseldorf, is a French school of the AEFE network in Düsseldorf from kindergarten to the final year. It was founded in 1962 by parents: the first fifteen or so children studied in a building in the garden of the French consulate; since 1977 the school has been on Graf-Recke-Straße, and since 1994 it has included a lycée. About 600 children aged 3-18 attend, with children of 36 nationalities in the kindergarten. Teaching is entirely in French following the curricula of the French education ministry; German is taught from the first year of kindergarten, English from the second, Spanish from grade 8 and Latin from grade 7. Students strong in German join the Deutsch+ groups (some subjects in German, in collège following the German Gymnasium curriculum) and then the AbiBac dual diploma; English speakers join the American International Section with history and geography in English, and the lycée has a European English section and the Baccalauréat Français International. For children without French there is the FLSco programme. The school is run by a parents' association, and tuition is fee-paying.

Admissions The school is open to children of all nationalities, including those who do not speak French: for them there is the FLSco intensive French programme (charged separately for new students). Kindergarten admits children from the year they turn 3, toilet trained. For primary and secondary, students not from the French system may take an entrance test to assess their level. Enrolment and re-enrolment are online through the Eduka platform; a place is guaranteed once all documents are submitted and the registration fee is paid. New students are admitted to the American International Section based on an English test; the AbiBac and the European section are assigned by language level and teachers' advice. French families can apply for an AEFE scholarship through the consulate in Frankfurt am Main.
Stages and year groups French curriculum: kindergarten (petite, moyenne, grande section, ages 3-5), primary CP-CM2 (ages 6-10), collège 6e-3e with the Diplôme national du brevet exam, lycée seconde to terminale with the French baccalauréat (reformed, 40% continuous assessment and 60% exams). In the lycée students can obtain the baccalauréat with the European English section mention (history and geography in English), the AbiBac (6 hours of German and at least 3 hours of history and geography in German, the baccalauréat and the Allgemeine Hochschulreife at once) or the Baccalauréat Français International (first exams in 2024). The American International Section (SIA) runs in primary and collège. German starts in the first year of kindergarten; in primary the Deutsch+ programme (3 hours of subjects in German), in collège a Deutsch+ group following the German Gymnasium curriculum. The school prepares for DELF, DSD and Cambridge English language certificates (for an exam fee) - these are language exams, not a Cambridge International programme. There is no IB.

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad
It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

The state programme of France. A school is homologated by the French ministry of education, and a leaver may move into a school in France without entrance tests. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What this means for this school. Which year groups of this school are covered by homologation - only the primary ones, or all the way to the final year - is not stated here. The difference matters: it decides whether the school takes a child through to the French baccalaureate or hands them on to another school halfway.

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Campus: One site on Graf-Recke-Straße in Düsseldorf, where the school has been since 1977; after an arson attack in 1985 the buildings were rebuilt and have been extended since: a lycée building with a laboratory (1994), a kindergarten extension (1998), a building with a canteen, eight classrooms and two practical rooms (2012-2013), and a two-storey 2018 building with primary and secondary classrooms, a lift, a documentation centre, an art and music room, two equipped laboratories and a student lounge. In 2021 an 850 m² multisport pitch, playground areas for athletics and table tennis opened, and play areas were renewed. There is a gym, a primary library and a documentation centre for grades 6-12 with computers and magazines. Lunch is optional, by subscription. After classes (14:30 to 17:30-18:00) childcare is run by AWO Düsseldorf, and there are paid clubs for primary pupils. Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
