Instituto Gallego Hispano Argentino Santiago Apóstol is a private, secular, co-educational school in central Buenos Aires, on Paso street. It was created by the Xunta de Galicia (the government of Galicia) and the Centro Galicia de Buenos Aires through the Fundación Galicia-América; the school opened in March 1998, and the secondary level has run since 2005. The school calls its education «bicultural argentina-gallega» (bicultural, Argentine and Galician): lessons follow the Argentine curriculum in Spanish, while Galician language and culture and intensive English are taught as subjects. In July 2025 the school signed an agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Education and joined the network of Centros de Convenio; according to the school, the agreement «garantiza a sus estudiantes la obtención de la doble titulación de Bachillerato» (guarantees students the double Bachillerato diploma, Argentine and Spanish). The secondary school runs a full day («Doble escolaridad»), and each class has a tutor teacher (profesor tutor). Students sit Cambridge English exams from Starters in grade 3 to FCE in the final, 5th year of secondary school. The language of instruction is inferred from the fact that all pages for parents, admission requirements and the curriculum description are written in Spanish, while Galician and English are named as separate subjects.

Admissions The school admits new students from outside (alumnos externos) through interviews and exams. Kindergarten: an interview of parents with the leadership, a meeting with the psycho-pedagogical service (Gabinete), documents and a place reservation payment. Primary grades 2-7: interviews, an entrance exam in Spanish language (Lengua) and mathematics («ambas materias deben ser aprobadas» - both subjects must be passed), an English assessment and an introductory course in Galician language and culture from mid-February. Secondary year 1: an interview with the rector, the introductory Galician course, exams in Spanish language, mathematics and English, a psycho-pedagogical assessment and a parents' interview with the Orientación service; from year 2 the same steps without the Spanish and mathematics exams, plus a report card and a certificate of no debt to the previous school. The document list includes the Argentine identity document (DNI) of the child and parents; the school says nothing separately about foreigners.
Stages and year groups Grades kindergarten from age 2 (salas de 2, 3, 4 y 5 años), primary grades 1-7, secondary years 1-5. Argentine curriculum: Nivel Inicial (kindergarten, groups for ages 2-5), Nivel Primario (grades 1-7, two cycles), Nivel Secundario (5 years). The secondary school follows the «Bachillerato con orientación en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades» plan and awards the «Bachiller con orientación en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades» diploma (Bachiller with a social sciences and humanities track); the school calls it «Bachiller homologable conforme al Convenio Bilateral Argentino-Español» (recognised in Spain under the bilateral agreement). Spanish component: since July 2025 the school is a Centro de Convenio of the Spanish Ministry of Education; according to the school, the Spanish Minister of Education announced that graduates «puedan acceder al título español de Bachillerato» (will be able to obtain the Spanish Bachillerato diploma). The school does not say from which graduating class the Spanish diploma is awarded or which Spanish subjects were added. The school also names a Galician language diploma (a Xunta de Galicia certificate), the Cambridge PET and FCE exams, a computing certificate from the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional and a UCES economics course in years 4 and 5.

Accreditations and programmes verified against official registries
MEFPDSpain's state register of schools lists it in its "abroad" section as a school under an agreement with the ministry (Centro de Convenio en el Extranjero), code 60009341. Under its 2025 agreement the school awards a double certificate: the Argentine Bachiller and the Spanish Bachillerato.

MEFPDMinistry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports of Spain
A school of the Spanish education system abroad: run by the Spanish state, or a private Spanish school supervised by the ministry, or a school under an agreement with the ministry. The curriculum is Spanish, and leavers receive the Spanish certificate. Every such school is named in Spain's state register of schools, each with its own code.
What the badge means for this school. This is a Spanish school abroad, and that can be checked in Spain's state register. The entry is not a quality inspection: a school is on the register as part of the Spanish system, not as the outcome of an assessment. The curriculum and the certificate are Spanish. What other programmes the school offers, and what it charges, are on its own website. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

The state school programme of Spain, with the Spanish certificates: ESO at 16 and the Bachiller after the baccalaureate.
What this means for this school. The programme is set by the Spanish Ministry of Education, which also names the school in its state register of schools, in the "abroad" section. Leavers receive Spanish qualifications: the Graduado en ESO after secondary school and the título de Bachiller after the baccalaureate. They are used for entry to Spanish universities; in other countries they are matched to local ones.
National programme
The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.
Exams and destinations from the school's official website
The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
