Wrocław International School (WIS) is a not-for-profit IB school in Wrocław, founded in 2002 as the first international school in south-western Poland. It offers the IB from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 10: the Primary Years Programme for ages 4-11 and the Middle Years Programme for ages 11-16; it was authorised for the PYP and MYP in December 2010 and says it was the first school in Poland authorised for both. After Grade 10 students can continue to the IB Diploma at the neighbouring International High School of Wrocław on the same campus. The language of instruction is English; Polish and French are taught as foreign languages, with Mother Tongue support and Academic English for students for whom English is an additional language. Classes have no more than 20 students, and most teachers are IB-trained native English speakers. Clubs, the Wolves athletic programme and after-school care are included in tuition. Under Polish law WIS is a niepubliczna placówka oświatowo-wychowawcza rather than a Polish school: it admits Polish nationals only if they are not subject to Polish Ministry of Education regulations.

Admissions Admission is year-round, from Pre-Kindergarten (age 4) to MYP 5 (Grade 10, age 15); the school welcomes children of all nationalities regardless of gender, religion or background. Polish nationals are admitted only if they are not subject to Polish Ministry of Education regulations. Steps: an enquiry form, then after initial approval an application with a recommendation letter from the previous school, records for three years, two samples of current work (for Grade 5 to MYP 5), a passport copy, photo, medical certificate and the application fee; then testing or a placement meeting if needed, registration and the contract. Documents must be in English or with a notarised translation. Placement follows age and previous schooling; MYP 3-5 (Grades 8-10) require appropriate English, and non-native speakers may be asked to take a test. When a class is full there is a waiting list, with priority for enrolled students. The school may not be able to meet needs requiring specialist support.
Stages and year groups Grades Pre-K, K, 1-10. IB Primary Years Programme (Pre-Kindergarten from age 4 to Grade 5; subjects: English and social studies, mathematics, science and technology, visual and performing arts, personal and physical education, Polish) and IB Middle Years Programme (MYP 1-5, Grades 6-10; eight subject groups, Language Acquisition in French and Polish, integrated science, music, visual arts and drama, design, the Personal Project in MYP 5). The school does not itself offer the IB Diploma: MYP graduates move to the International High School of Wrocław. WIS does not follow the Polish curriculum, egzamin ósmoklasisty or matura.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), MYP (ages 11-16). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible.

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
