Colegio San Antonio is a Catholic bilingual full-day school in San Antonio de Areco, at the junction of provincial road 41 and national road 8, 110 kilometres from Buenos Aires. Six families of the town conceived it in October 1986 and set it up as a non-profit foundati, with a clause passing its property to the diocese of Zarate-Campana should it fail, and on 16 March 1987 the school opened with 73 pupils and 51 founding families. The kindergarten takes children from the age of three, the primary school runs Anos 1-6 and the senior school Anos 7-12; leavers receive the Argentine title "Bachiller Bilingue con Orientacion en Ciencias Naturales" and along the way sit Cambridge examinations: Cambridge Primary in the primary school, IGCSE and AS/A Level in the senior school. The school's site is seven hectares: an enclosed sports hall, changing rooms and a sports field of six hectares with pitches for hockey, rugby and football and a running track, and from their first day the pupils are divided between two houses, Spruce and Clover. Every year the whole school stages a musical, and in the primary school a psychopedagogue works with the children who find the work harder.
