The school was founded in 1997 and stands in the Atakent-Halkalı area of Küçükçekmece, on the European side of Istanbul. It calls itself the most distinguished private school in that area and sets itself apart by its building, whose architecture draws on Seljuk and other motifs. Its language approach rests on immersion: in the school's own words the language leaves the classroom and works as the language of communication in the laboratories, the gym, the garden and the dining hall, with lessons supported by workshops and language experiments; the approach as a whole is aligned with the Turkish Maarif model. The school belongs to the Global Schools programme. Beyond the core curriculum it runs workshops in STEM, robotics and coding, 3D design and modelling, game development, programming and thinking games, as well as education in religion and values.
