ZEMAS International College, or Z.I.C., is a private school in Esenyurt in the west of Istanbul, teaching an American program based on the Common Core standards from the preparatory groups through grade twelve. Lessons are taught in English, with Arabic and Turkish added alongside Quran, Islamic studies and Islamic history; the school gives 2021 as its founding year. The school is divided into four stages: KG1 and KG2, primary school from grade one through grade six, middle school for grades seven and eight, and high school from grade nine through grade twelve, and it awards its own American diploma at the end. The high school stage is built as preparation for university: the school runs Advanced Placement courses in grades eleven and twelve, prepares students for the SAT and TOEFL, and keeps a college counselor for its senior students. Its classrooms, the school says, hold children of more than thirty nationalities - in one place it says thirty, in another thirty-five.
