Colegio Internacional de Valladolid is a private British school in the south of Valladolid, the only one in Castile and León that gives a dual qualification at secondary level: the Spanish ESO certificate and a British one awarded by Cambridge on IGCSE results. Teaching follows the British National Curriculum, supplemented by the compulsory subjects of the Spanish curriculum, and English becomes the working language from day one - children are taken from the age of one. French starts as a second foreign language in Year 2 and stays compulsory until Year 7, and in secondary a pupil chooses French or German. The campus has four buildings with bright classrooms and large green areas, specialist rooms, laboratories, workshops, a music room and an art lab, and outdoor sports facilities; many classrooms have a class library of their own. There is a school nurse for the whole school day, who is also the nutritionist drawing up the menus for the school's own kitchen, and a safeguarding team led by a wellbeing coordinator. The main thing a parent needs to know: the British line ends at IGCSE - the senior stage here is the Spanish baccalaureate in four streams with PAU preparation, not A-Levels - though through the group's Dukes Plus programme the school promises a direct route to applications to Oxford, Cambridge and universities in the United States.

About the fees The school publishes its fees in a tariff sheet for the 2025-2026 academic year, in euros, as an annual sum and monthly in ten payments. Nursery from 1 to 5 (Toddlers, Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Reception) - 7150 euros a year, or 715 a month; Year 1 - 7260; Year 2 and Year 3 - 7800; Year 4 and Year 5 - 8080; Year 6 and Year 7 (1º ESO) - 8380; 2º and 3º ESO - 8570; 4º ESO - 8690; the bachillerato, 1º and 2º year - 6980 euros. The annual fee includes meals, consumables and stationery, digital platforms, accident insurance and civil liability; in the bachillerato meals are optional and cost 184 euros a month. Discounts: 10% for the second child, 50% for the third and 100% for the fourth on the tuition fee, always applied to the youngest; 2.5% for paying the year at once.
Admissions Admission is open all year round, and the school advises not to delay because places are few. The order is simple: fill in the form and book a personal visit, come and see the school and meet the teachers, after which the admissions office guides the family through enrolment. The school names no separate examinations or tests; for getting acquainted it offers taster days by stage - Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate. The school does take foreigners: in its prospectus it writes that children of more than 15 nationalities study on its campus; it names no separate conditions for them, such as a Spanish requirement.
Stages and year groups Grades Toddlers (age 1) - 2nd year of the baccalaureate, ages 1 to 18. The stages run right through: Infantil from 1 to 5 in four years - Toddlers, Pre-nursery, Nursery and Reception; Primary from 5 to 11-12, with Key Stage 1 as Years 1-2 and Key Stage 2 as Years 3-6; Secondary from 11 to 16, with Key Stage 3 as Year 7 and 1º-2º ESO and Key Stage 4 as 3º-4º ESO ending in IGCSE examinations; the baccalaureate lasts two years, from 16 to 18, in humanities and social science, technology, biomedical and arts streams. The school sets its British years alongside the Spanish ones: Year 1 is 3º Infantil, Year 2 is 1º Primaria and so on.

What stands behind each entry

CambridgeCambridge International Education

Part of the University of Cambridge. It allows a school to teach the Cambridge programmes and to enter pupils for the exams. There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level. If the stages are known they are named in the line below; if that line is missing, the school does not publish them, and the Cambridge registry does not show stages either - it gives only the name of the centre, the country and whether private candidates are accepted. Cambridge calls what it does registration rather than accreditation, and the network holds about ten thousand schools.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: IGCSE (ages 14-16). IGCSE means exams at around Year 10 or 11, the British counterpart of a lower secondary leaving certificate.

National programme

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.

What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Dukes Educationschool network

Dukes Education is a British private education group founded by Aatif Hassan in 2015. It describes itself as a family of nurseries, schools and colleges in the UK and Europe; besides schools, the group runs summer schools, day camps and university application consultancies. The group does not give a total number of schools on its pages; its Europe section lists schools in Croatia, Czechia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Switzerland, and its menu also has a North America section. In Spain the group lists 6 schools: Engage International School (Majadahonda, Madrid), International English School of Castellón, English School of Asturias, Colegio Inglés Zaragoza, Elian's British School of La Nucía and Colegio Internacional de Valladolid. The group's site is dukeseducation.com.

What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

Exams and destinations from the school's official website

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

The safeguarding team is drawn from several specialists under a wellbeing coordinator and is responsible for protecting all pupils; pastoral care is declared separately, working on resilience, self-esteem and interpersonal skills. The school keeps its general policies on the page /conoce-civ/politicas-generales/.

Reviews

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
