Colegio Sagrada Familia Jesuitinas is a state-funded Catholic school in Valladolid, at Carretera de Segovia 1, which takes children from birth and runs to eighteen; it belongs to the Fundación Educativa Jesuitinas, a network of 23 centres across Spain. The main thing a parent should know: the school gained the IB Diploma recently, began running it in the 2022-23 year and calls itself the first centre in Valladolid and the only private school in Castilla y León in the IB organisation; the Diploma, however, sits in the private rather than the state-funded part of its offer - which means that stage is paid for separately. The school describes itself as open to all "sin distinción por razones de raza, cultura, condición social, sexo, religión", with individual attention to each pupil. It has a canteen, camps, extracurricular activities and a sports strand, but it posts the make-up of the extracurricular programme as a separate file rather than on a page. City buses 4, 13, 14, 6, H, 9, 13A and 19 pass the school - it lists them itself. The school does not state a fee on the site. The school is bilingual: it has been authorised to run sections taught in English since the 2008-2009 school year, and in primary school natural science and art are taught in English in all years, physical education in the first 3 and music in the upper 3; the rest is taught in Spanish. French as a second foreign language the school has taught since the 2010-2011 school year in the fifth and sixth years.

About the fees The school does not publish a fee: it has no tuition page. On money it says one thing, and an important one: the IB Diploma forms part of the private side of its offer, that is, it is not covered by state funding and is paid for separately - but the school publishes no amount. The canteen and the camps are described without tariffs.
Admissions Admission to the state-funded part of the school follows the Castilla y León state procedure: the site posts a "Listado de baremación para publicar" - the list of points awarded, as is usual in state-funded private centres. In its educational project the school writes that it has admitted everyone who applied as long as there were vacancies, and calls itself open to diversity - cultural, linguistic and religious. The school has no separate page with steps, an entrance test, language requirements or conditions for foreign families.
Stages and year groups Grades from 0 to 18 years. The school sets the bounds itself in the site's own heading: "desde los 0 hasta los 18 años". The youngest stage has a page of its own - "Ed. Infantil 0-3 años". The upper stage is split: the national baccalaureate in the state-funded part, the IB Diploma in the private part. The school publishes no daily timetable.

What stands behind each entry

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: DP (ages 16-19). DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

National programme

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.

What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Fundación Educativa Jesuitinasschool network

Fundación Educativa Jesuitinas is a Catholic school network created by the Congregation of the Daughters of Jesus (Hijas de Jesús); it is a canonical non-profit foundation that since 1 September 2018 has run the schools that had belonged to the congregation since 1871. According to its site, the network has 23 centres in 19 towns and cities across 9 Spanish autonomous communities, more than 19,000 students and 1,500 educators. Teaching runs from nursery to Bachillerato and vocational courses, and the schools are state-funded under agreement (concierto). Its schools are in places including Madrid, Bilbao, Seville, Málaga, Granada, Murcia, Pamplona, Valladolid, Salamanca, Burgos, A Coruña, Vigo and Badalona. The foundation's site is jesuitinas.es.

What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

Reviews

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
