Colegio Virgen de Europa is a private school in Las Lomas in Boadilla del Monte outside Madrid, and it runs three IB programmes in sequence: the PYP in primary school, the MYP in secondary and the Diploma in the baccalaureate - that is how they are labelled in its own menu. Admission starts at four months: the school has a nursery, "La Casita CVE", for ages 0-3. The day is a long one: lessons from 8:50 to 16:50, with extended hours from 7:30 with breakfast and until 18:00 for kindergarten and 19:00 for primary school. The facilities are large: 28000 m2 of sports fields with an athletics track, a grass football pitch, a sports hall, a roller-hockey rink, basketball and handball courts, a climbing wall and a weights gym; physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, an ecological garden and art workshops. Among its services are a dining hall with its own kitchen, bus routes from Madrid and the surrounding area, a doctor and nurse on site daily and an educational-psychology unit. Separately the school owns a hostel in Almarza for trips, a school of music and dance on its own subdomain, the CEP-CVE vocational training centre, its own Model United Nations (UNESMUN) and UNESCO school status. For the Diploma the school requires English at B2 or above.

Admissions Admission runs stage by stage and starts with a visit: to arrange a meeting you fill in a form on the admissions page, after which the school contacts the family and at the meeting explains the project and the documents needed. For primary school the child sits level and aptitude tests, whose dates are announced in advance, and the decision is made on their results and previous reports. For secondary school and the national baccalaureate the pupil must pass entrance examinations, have passed all subjects of the previous year, not be repeating a year and have an interview with the head; the place is confirmed only after the official marks from the previous school. For the IB Diploma the requirements are stated plainly: English at no less than level B2 of the Common European Framework, a positive school record showing responsibility and sustained effort, settled working habits, an interview in English with the programme coordinator and a personal statement on what draws the pupil to the IB method. The school does take foreigners: it describes itself as a school with a large international community, with families and teachers who have come from other countries. It names no separate rules for them, such as a Spanish requirement.
Stages and year groups Grades nursery from 4 months - 2nd year of baccalaureate. The stages run right through: La Casita CVE for ages 0-3, Educación Infantil 3-6, Educación Primaria with the PYP 6-12, Educación Secundaria with the MYP 12-16, and the baccalaureate with the IB Diploma from 16. Lessons run from 8:50 to 16:50; extended hours begin at 7:30 with breakfast and last until 18:00 in kindergarten and 19:00 in primary school. Beyond the school stages the organisation also has the CEP-CVE vocational training centre.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), MYP (ages 11-16), DP (ages 16-19). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible. DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
