Educandato Statale «Agli Angeli» is a state educational institution in central Verona founded by Napoleon in 1812, one of six educandati in Italy. Students can follow the whole path from grade 1 of primary through lower secondary to the liceo diploma, and may board for 5 or 7 days a week. The upper school offers eight tracks: liceo classico with enhanced English, liceo classico with a performing arts focus, liceo classico europeo, liceo scientifico with enhanced English, liceo scientifico in data science and artificial intelligence (with the University of Verona), two applied sciences licei - one with Chinese and one with enhanced English - and the only state liceo coreutico (dance liceo) in the Veneto, run under an agreement with the National Dance Academy. Teaching is in Italian; English is taught with a native-speaker teacher, and most licei prepare students for Cambridge IGCSE and IELTS exams. A distinctive feature is the educators (educatori), who run afternoon study with the teachers and support students in the boarding house.

About the fees The school is state-run but charges mandatory annual fees approved by its board for the 2026/2027 school year: a registration contribution (contributo di iscrizione) of 100 EUR and a retta. The retta in primary and lower secondary (day boarding, five long days) is 1900 EUR per year; in the liceo it is 750 EUR for day students without day boarding (liceo classico only), 1500 EUR with day boarding on 2-3 days and 1900 EUR on 4-5 days. Boarding including the school retta is 3700 EUR per year for 5 days a week and 4200 EUR for 7 days. Rette are paid in three instalments (30.06.2026, 31.10.2026, 28.02.2027) via PagoPA. The school explains that the rette cover the extended programme, IGCSE Cambridge courses (native-speaker teachers, certificates, exams), Spanish, German and Chinese language exams, meals, the psychological service, upkeep of the buildings and park and utilities, since local authorities do not fund its operation.
Admissions Admission to the first year of primary, lower secondary and the licei follows the state enrolment procedure using the school code and the published admission criteria for the 2026/2027 school year; there are separate criteria for the boarding house. The dance liceo admits students only after a practical entrance exam run by school teachers with a representative of the National Dance Academy. For the IGCSE English as a Second Language course the school publishes an English entry test and recommends a score of at least 30 out of 50, otherwise advising students to review grammar and vocabulary to B1 level. The school says it aims to ease the admission of foreign students, support them as they settle in and build relations with their families. Enrolment is confirmed annually and depends on payment of the registration fee and rette.

Accreditations and programmes verified against official registries
Cambridge · IGCSE · authorised programmeThe Cambridge register names the school as its centre; it teaches Cambridge IGCSE. Most licei teach English to the IGCSE syllabus with a native speaker in years 1-3, with the exam in year 3; the European liceo adds IGCSE Biology and the Chinese-track liceo IGCSE Chemistry.

CambridgeCambridge International Education
Part of the University of Cambridge. It allows a school to teach the Cambridge programmes and to enter pupils for the exams. There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level. If the stages are known they are named in the line below; if that line is missing, the school does not publish them, and the Cambridge registry does not show stages either - it gives only the name of the centre, the country and whether private candidates are accepted. Cambridge calls what it does registration rather than accreditation, and the network holds about ten thousand schools.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: IGCSE (ages 14-16). IGCSE means exams at around Year 10 or 11, the British counterpart of a lower secondary leaving certificate.

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Teachers work alongside educators (educatori), a specific role in state educandati and convitti: they run afternoon study, help with study methods, support students in the boarding house and mediate between students, teachers and families. English in the licei is taught together with a native-speaker teacher; in the liceo classico europeo native speakers of English and German or Spanish co-teach in class. The school hosts foreign teachers through mobility programmes, and teachers and educators also take Cambridge language exams.

Each school level has a psychological and pedagogical support service (Spazio Ascolto) for students, teachers, educators and parents. The Team No Bull of teachers and educators receives reports of bullying and cyberbullying through a dedicated email, with a contact at each level. There is an infirmary, a protocol for administering medicines at school and medical care in the boarding house; the school has an inclusion plan with contacts for each level and a whistleblowing channel.
Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
