Escola Frederic Mistral - Tècnic Eulàlia is one school on two sites in Barcelona: a centre in Sarrià on Carrer Pere II de Montcada and a centre near Tibidabo on Carrer Lluís Muntadas. It grew out of the merger of two former schools - Frederic Mistral and Tècnic Eulàlia - under the Fundació Collserola, and it appears in the IB register as a single entry. The stages run right through: kindergarten, primary school, secondary and the baccalaureate, and at the leaving stage there are three paths at once - the ordinary batxillerat, Batxibac (the dual French-Spanish one) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. The school does not run the Diploma as a separate stream: it is built into its baccalaureates and shares their timetable, calendar, activities and tutorial care, and a student takes it over two years across six subjects plus the extended essay, CAS and theory of knowledge. Among its services are a before-school reception group, school transport, a library, a dining hall with its own kitchen, a "midday space", extracurricular activities, leisure activities and its own residential base, the Les Vinyes holiday house. The main language of instruction, in the school's words, is Catalan; alongside it run Spanish, English, French and German, and the school teaches some non-language subjects in foreign languages.

Admissions The school admits pupils through Catalonia's general pre-registration on the preinscripcio.gencat.cat portal: for 2026-2027 from 4 to 18 March 2026 for infant and primary, and from 6 to 18 March for secondary. The application needs the birth certificate or family book, the applicant's document - DNI, NIE or passport - the number in the Catalan pupil register if the child has studied in Catalonia, and proof of the points claimed. Points are given for siblings at the school (50), living near the school (30), a parent working in the school's zone (20), living in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district (15), in Barcelona (10) and receiving the guaranteed citizen income (15), and in a tie for disability, large family, single parent and other circumstances. The school describes no separate procedure for foreigners: it accepts both an NIE and a passport as the applicant's document.
Stages and year groups Grades kindergarten - year 2 of baccalaureate. The school's menu divides its teaching into Infantil, Primària, Secundària and Batxillerat; at the last stage there is a choice between the ordinary baccalaureate, Batxibac and the IB Diploma, the Diploma running over two years for students aged 16-18 within the common timetable. The site names no age limits for the lower stages.

What stands behind each entry

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: DP (ages 16-19). DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

Fundació Collserolaschool network

Fundació Collserola is a Catalan foundation set up in 1994; it owns three schools state-funded under agreement with the Catalan government: Frederic Mistral-Tècnic Eulàlia in Barcelona, Avenç in Sant Cugat del Vallès and Ramon Fuster in Bellaterra (Cerdanyola del Vallès). The foundation describes the Frederic Mistral school, founded in 1967 by a group of teachers, as the core of the group. It names pluralism, secularism and Catalan identity as its principles and states its independence from any political or ideological group. All three schools teach from age three to the fourth year of ESO, and students take the Bachillerato at Frederic Mistral-Tècnic Eulàlia; the group also includes the Cim d'Estela, Institut de Psicologia, Bellaire (a special education school) and Els Xiprers foundations. The foundation's site is fundaciocollserola.cat.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
