GEMS Winchester Private School Fujairah is a British school in the centre of Fujairah city and the flagship GEMS school in the emirate. It teaches the National Curriculum for England from Pre-KG to Grade 12, in English, with compulsory Arabic, Islamic and moral education; the leaving qualifications are IGCSE and A Level. The campus is new: three innovation labs with virtual reality and robotics, two libraries, an auditorium, dedicated art and music rooms, an indoor air-conditioned sports hall, an all-weather field and an air-conditioned play area for the kindergarten. Medical provision is stronger than usual here: a medical centre with a full-time doctor and a nurse, plus a second clinic with its own nurse. The school has a trained counsellor, runs the Oxford wellbeing curriculum, and child protection is led by the Head of Secondary as designated safeguarding lead with a team of Level 3-trained deputies. The Ministry of Education inspection of 2022-2023 rated the school "Good". What the school does not state is its year of foundation, its number of pupils and any named list of clubs: extracurricular activities are described only by kind.

About the fees The annual fee by stage, in UAE dirhams, for 2026-2027: 25,700 for Pre-KG, 29,200 for KG1 and KG2, 31,540 for Grades 1-3, 33,870 for Grades 4-6, 36,210 for Grades 7-9, 38,540 for Grade 10, 36,710 for Grade 11 and 40,470 for Grade 12. Book fees are charged separately, from 700 dirhams in Pre-KG to 1,800 in Grade 12. A one-off new admissions fee of 500 dirhams is non-refundable but is set against the first term's tuition. The fee covers personalised learning in small classes, English as an additional language support, Western speech and language therapy, access to "Winchester Town" and the innovation labs. Fees follow the fee framework set by the Ministry of Education and may change under Article 51 of Federal Law No. 28 of 1999.
Admissions Admission takes two steps: an online application, then a registration fee of 500 dirhams together with the documents. The school then runs age-related screening and assessment - the decision rests with the admissions team subject to approval by the relevant government authorities, after which a child is offered a seat, placed on the waiting list or refused. Age is counted at 31 August: Pre-KG from three, KG1 from four, KG2 from five, Grade 1 from six and a year per grade after that. The school states plainly that it takes children with special educational needs and disabilities as well as gifted and talented pupils, that it does not refuse admission on the ground of a special need alone, and that a medical diagnosis is not a condition of admission; details of individual education plans and specialist reports are asked for before a place is decided. The documents required are a passport with a UAE residence visa, Emirates ID cards of child and parents, a vaccination record, previous school reports and an attested transfer certificate.
Stages and year groups Grades Pre-KG to Grade 12. The stages run right through: Pre-KG from the age of three, KG1 and KG2, primary school, middle school and secondary school up to Grade 12. IGCSE is sat in the upper years of the middle stage, followed by AS and A Level. Students in Grades 11 and 12 have at least eight free lessons a week for independent work, and the school advises filling them with Future Learn or Coursera courses for their university portfolio. Each grade has its own class tutor - the first point of contact for parents - who also runs the moral education curriculum and lessons in money management.

Part of the University of Cambridge. It allows a school to teach the Cambridge programmes and to enter pupils for the exams. There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level. If the stages are known they are named in the line below; if that line is missing, the school does not publish them, and the Cambridge registry does not show stages either - it gives only the name of the centre, the country and whether private candidates are accepted. Cambridge calls what it does registration rather than accreditation, and the network holds about ten thousand schools.

The site dates its start to 1959 («Our story began in 1959«, «65+ Years of Legacy«), while another page on the same site says «over 60 Years of Legacy«. School counts on the site disagree: the homepage says both «52 schools across the UAE, Qatar and Egypt« and «Choose from our list of over 47 schools«, while the Our Company page says GEMS has schools «in the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Europe and North America«. Students: «200,000 students from over 176 countries« (Our Company) and «over 200,000« (homepage). On ownership the site is explicit: «GEMS Education own, operate and manage schools globally« — it both owns and manages, but does not say which schools fall into which category.

Campus: The campus sits in the centre of Fujairah city, with the kindergarten on the ground floor and the science labs on the third. There are three innovation labs with virtual reality and robotics for all ages from 4 to 18, a multi-purpose auditorium, art studios, music rooms, two libraries, a school store and a parent café. Sport: an indoor air-conditioned sports hall, a multi-purpose air-conditioned hall, a large all-weather astro-turf field, outdoor multi-sport courts and a separate air-conditioned play area for the kindergarten. Meals are served in the main dining hall and a second dining hall for girls only.

Child protection is led by a designated safeguarding lead - the Head of Secondary - with a team of Level 3-trained deputies and the support of the central GEMS safeguarding team. All staff take safeguarding training, recruitment runs through reference checks and a safer recruitment course, and adult volunteers are cleared as well. The school counsellor holds regular sessions with pupils and works with parents and external agencies. There is an anti-bullying week, a monthly safeguarding spotlight for staff and information sessions for parents. On the medical side: a centre with a full-time doctor and a nurse, plus a separate clinic with a second qualified nurse.
