Greenleaves Montessori is a private secular Montessori school in Moncloa-Aravaca in western Madrid. It began in 2018 as a nursery for children under six and has grown into a full school: the stages now run from an Infant Community from six months through Children's House (3-6), Elementary (6-12) and Middle Years (12-16) to a senior stage for ages 16-18, which opens in the 2026/27 school year, so the school has no leavers of its own yet. The Comunidad de Madrid recognises it as an authorised foreign school; the school combines Montessori with an American curriculum and International Baccalaureate programmes - on its home page it names PEP, PAI and DP - and relates its NEASC accreditation to the stages from 3 to 12. Teaching is bilingual on the CLIL model, with native English speakers, and from the age of eight children are prepared for the TOEFL. The school describes its community as genuinely multicultural: more than 150 families and more than 30 nationalities. The day runs from 8:00 to 17:00; meals are prepared by the Nattive catering service from natural seasonal produce, with menus for allergies and special diets. In summer the school runs a bilingual sports camp that is also open to children from outside.

About the fees The school posts its fees as a file for the 2025-2026 school year, by the month. Tuition and materials: Infant Community 585 euros plus 45 (630 euros a month in all), Children's House 540 plus 80 (620), Elementary PYP 600 plus 110 (710), MYP 1-2: 660 plus 130 (790), MYP 3-4: 860 plus 130 (990 euros a month). The file does not state the number of monthly payments in a year. Paying the whole year by 30 July gives a 5 per cent discount; 10 per cent for a second child, 20 for a third, 30 for a fourth, and 5 per cent for large families.
Admissions The school admits foreigners: it names more than 30 nationalities in its community and calls itself a foreign school authorised by the Comunidad de Madrid, and its application form asks for nationality. Admission runs in six steps: the form and a personal meeting with the admissions committee with a tour of the school, then a day when the child visits the school and is assessed for suitability, the committee's decision, reservation of a place with payment of the enrolment fee and receipt of the family dossier and rules, an initial interview with the tutors and finally enrolment. The school names no separate requirements about citizenship, documents or knowledge of Spanish and English.
Stages and year groups Grades Infant Community from 6 months - senior stage ages 16-18. The school runs from 8:00 to 17:00.

NEASCNew England Association of Schools and Colleges
An American accreditation working since 1885. For international schools it uses an approach where the visitors look first at live lessons rather than at folders of paperwork: the team works in the school for about a week. It is the only one here whose public directory honestly separates accredited schools from candidates.
What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end.

The pedagogy of Maria Montessori: a child chooses the activity, works at their own pace with special materials, and mixed-age groups are arranged so that older children teach the younger ones. It is used most often in the nursery and primary stages.
What this means for this school. The name Montessori belongs to nobody: any school may call itself a Montessori school, and there is no single body that checks this. There are associations that train teachers and recognise schools, but membership of them is voluntary, and our entry means exactly that the school describes itself this way. This pedagogy has no leaving certificate, so what to look at is what the school finishes with.

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Summer camp: the school runs its own camp and takes children from outside as well
Summer Camp 2026 runs at the school from 22 June to 31 July, five weeks, in three groups: ages 3-7, 8-11 and 12-16. Mornings from 9:00 to 13:00 or a full day to 16:00 with lunch and afternoon workshops; bilingual, with the emphasis on English. Each week has a new sports theme - handball, badminton and little-known sports from around the world; mini-sports and crafts for the youngest, tournaments and cooking for the middle group, athletics, coding and app design for the oldest. Children from outside are taken at a higher price: for them one week costs 250-290 euros, two weeks 350-420, three or more 520-760 euros.
Teaching staff
The school publishes neither the number of its teachers nor their qualifications.
Safety and wellbeing from the school's official website
The school says nothing on its website about security, medical care or pupil support.
Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
