III Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Marynarki Wojennej RP, Gdyńska Trójka, is a state liceum in Gdynia founded in 1950; classes taught in English first appeared here in 1963. In 1993 it was one of the first two schools in Poland to open an IB Diploma class, and in 1995 it held the first international school-leaving exams in the history of the Polish education system. Today the IB track runs four years: IB MYP in grades 1-2 and IB DP in grades 3-4; in the DP all subjects except Polish, the second foreign language and Polish history and geography are taught in English. The other classes, bilingual and profile classes, follow the Polish curriculum. The school has long been near the top of the Perspektywy ranking and olympiad tables. Since 1963 it has run a boarding house for students from other regions of Poland. In 2026, 44 IB graduates averaged 38.43 points out of 45, two scored the maximum 45; 31 graduates of that year went to universities abroad, five of them to Trinity College Dublin.

About the fees It is a public school run by the Municipality of Gdynia; tuition is free, including in the IB classes; the school itself pays IB exam registration fees to the IBO. The boarding house is paid; see the fees section.
Admissions Grade 1 admits through the Gdynia electronic admissions system by points for the egzamin ósmoklasisty and grades; all candidates take an English test that places them in bilingual or standard groups, and it is compulsory for bilingual classes. The IB MYP runs in grades 1-2. For class III ib (IB DP) a school committee selects students from the school's own grade 2 by points: grades in Polish, mathematics and English for grade 1 and the first semester of grade 2, average, conduct, research projects and competitions, the Personal Project in the MYP class, scholarships and olympiads; high English grades are expected. IB students must keep attendance of at least 85% a month or be moved to a parallel class. For MYP and DP students without Polish citizenship the school teaches Polish as a foreign language; foreigners with good Polish may study it as a mother tongue. The boarding house admits by application in September and in a summer round (in 2026 lists were posted on 21 July).
Stages and year groups Grades 1-4 (liceum). A four-year liceum ogólnokształcące with the Polish curriculum and matura; bilingual classes and groups, where at least two subjects (from biology, chemistry, physics, geography, world history, mathematics) are taught in Polish and English. The international track, IB School 0704: IB MYP in grades 1-2 (per the language policy the main language of MYP lessons is Polish), IB Diploma Programme in grades 3-4 in English. DP subjects: Polish (Language A), English, French, German (Language B, ab initio); history, geography, philosophy; biology, chemistry, physics; Environmental Systems and Societies; Mathematics AA; Visual Arts; TOK, Extended Essay, CAS. Second languages in the liceum are French, German or Spanish; Latin and Ancient Greek are offered as extracurricular classes.

What stands behind each entry

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: MYP (ages 11-16), DP (ages 16-19). MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible. DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

National programme

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.

What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
