The International School of Navarra is the only school in Navarra that teaches its whole curriculum in English, and the only one in the area with the IB Diploma in English. It has been running since 2010, and in 2018 it moved from Pamplona to Gorraiz in the Egüés valley, into a new 5500 square metre building. The stages run right through: pre-school from the age of two, then primary from K3 to Grade 6, and secondary and sixth form up to Grade 12. The curriculum is English and so are all the lessons apart from language lessons: Spanish starts in K3, French in Grade 4, and German is added later. In Grade 10 pupils sit IGCSEs, the school itself handles recognition of the British certificate as the Spanish ESO, and the last two years are either the IB Diploma or an American diploma; the school's own fee table separates the two routes explicitly. The school does take children with no English and children from non-Spanish-speaking families: for the first there is an EAL English support programme with several hours a week in pairs or one to one, for the second a Spanish as a foreign language programme. There is also a separate service for pupils with particular needs - high ability, attention deficit, learning difficulties. The school belongs to Mathema Education, a group founded in 2012 whose other schools are Aquinas American School and Atlas American School of Malaga.

About the fees The annual fee for 2026/2027 rises with the stage: Pre-K 5600 EUR, K1 5800, K2 6300, K3 6600, Grade 1: 7200, Grade 2: 8400, Grade 3: 8650, Grade 4: 9400, Grade 5: 9600, Grade 6: 9800, Grade 7: 9900, Grade 8: 10200, Grades 9 and 10: 10700, Grades 11 and 12: 11900 on the American diploma and 12400 on the IB Diploma. Sibling discounts are large: 10 per cent for a second child, 30 for a third, 75 for a fourth. On top of tuition the school charges a non-refundable annual registration fee of 500 EUR, a one-off refundable deposit of 500 EUR, and an educational resources charge - 175 EUR up to Grade 6 and 200 EUR from Grade 7 to Grade 10. Uniform, English support, IGCSE and IB examination fees and administrative charges are not included. The bus costs 125 EUR a month one way and 175 return, and lunch 170 EUR a month.
Admissions Admission starts with a form on the site: the admissions office contacts the family itself, and a family that has not yet visited is offered a tour. The grade is chosen not by the name of the stage but from the table of equivalences between the international and Spanish systems, which the school keeps as a page of its own: its grade numbering is American, and without the table a parent easily gets the year wrong. The school names no entrance test and no English requirement on its site, and from its own description of support it is clear that English is not treated as a condition of entry: pupils who need it join the EAL programme, and children from non-Spanish-speaking families a Spanish as a foreign language programme. The school takes children from other countries: for those who arrive without enough Spanish to follow lessons in it, it runs a Spanish as a foreign language programme, individually or in small groups, until the pupil can move into the ordinary Spanish class. The school names on its site no documents for foreigners, no recognition of previous schooling and no requirements on citizenship or residence permits.
Stages and year groups Grades Pre-K from age 2 - Grade 12, up to age 18. The stages run right through and on American numbering: pre-school from two to five (Pre-K, K1, K2), primary from K3 at five to Grade 6 at twelve, middle school Grades 6-8, high school Grades 9-12. In Grade 10 pupils sit IGCSEs and complete secondary education there, while Grades 11 and 12 follow either the IB Diploma or an American diploma. In middle school pupils take two elective classes a week - business, art, literary magazine, drama or PE. The school is divided into four houses - Romans, Normans, Saxons and Vikings - with assemblies on Mondays and Fridays and a points system for behaviour and achievement.

MSAMiddle States Association of Colleges and Schools
One of the oldest American accreditations, working since 1887 in more than a hundred countries and linked to the Office of Overseas Schools of the US State Department. It judges the school as an institution across twelve areas, including finances, governance, premises and student support.
What the badge means for this school. The school is a candidate for accreditation by this organisation: the route has been started but not completed. Candidacy speaks of an application made and a file accepted for consideration, not of the outcome of an inspection, and the organisations themselves usually require schools to say that it does not guarantee accreditation. The candidacy is confirmed in the organisation's open directory.

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: DP (ages 16-19). DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

It gives a school approved centre status: that means Pearson exams can be sat in the school itself. What is checked is the premises, the equipment, the secure storage of papers and the presence of trained invigilators.
What the badge means for this school. The school can run Pearson exams on its own premises. The status says nothing about teaching, about results or about the school itself: any school able to run an exam securely holds it. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: IGCSE (ages 14-16). IGCSE means exams at around Year 10 or 11, the British counterpart of a lower secondary leaving certificate.

The American school programme, with the High School Diploma at the end. It usually comes together with AP courses, which the College Board stands behind, and with an American accreditation - MSA, NEASC or Cognia.
What this means for this school. The diploma is written out by the school itself: the American programme has no common leaving exam, and the content of the senior years is set by the school. Outside checking therefore rests on two things here - the accreditation of the school, and the AP exams if the school runs them.
Mathema Educaciónschool network
Mathema Educación is a school group whose history begins in 2012 with Aquinas American School in Pozuelo de Alarcón: its founders, supported by families, bought the building of a Spanish school and turned it into an American one. The Mathema Educación brand was created in October 2022 as the name of the group, which runs three schools and a student residence. Besides Aquinas, these are the British International School of Navarra in Gorraiz (Navarre), managed by the Aquinas team since the 2020/21 school year, and Atlas - American School of Malaga in Estepona, opened in 2022. The Aquinas residence for high school students is in Montepríncipe. The group's site is mathemaeducacion.es.
What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
