Colegio Internacional Jesuitinas Miralba is a private school in Vigo on Gran Vía, working under a state agreement (concertado) at the kindergarten, primary and compulsory secondary stages, and plurilingual by design. It has been in Vigo for more than sixty years and continues the line of St Cándida María de Jesús and the Daughters of Jesus; it belongs to the Jesuitinas educational foundation, a network of more than nineteen thousand students and fifteen hundred educators. The school obtained the IB Diploma Programme in 2023: it writes that this followed two years of work and training for everyone involved and several external audits, and that it teaches the programmes in Spanish. The stages run consecutively, from kindergarten to bachillerato. Catering is its own: a school kitchen and two separate dining rooms for different ages, with the service run by the company Arume, menus calculated for nutritional value and allergies and intolerances taken into account. There is a morning club for children dropped off early, a library, a school for parents and a parents' association. Extracurricular life is gathered around its own sports club, CD Miralba: pre-sport, five-a-side football, introductory sports training, rhythmic gymnastics, taekwondo, chess, roller skating, basketball, athletics, pilates, functional and personal training. Beyond sport there is the Alcor group - service and reflection through play and prayer - and the Armadanzas performing arts group.

Admissions For the stages funded under its agreement with the state, the school runs admission under the general rules of Galicia: applications for free places for the next year are made in March, and the school posts the application form, the admission calendar, the rules, the number of free places, the list of documents, the points scale with its tie-break rules and its catchment area. For the bachillerato, according to its annual plan, the timing is more flexible when places are free. The school invites families to start with a guided visit booked by phone, WhatsApp or the form on the site. It describes no separate procedure for children from abroad.
Stages and year groups Grades kindergarten - 2º de Bachillerato. The stages run consecutively: kindergarten, primary school for ages 6-12, compulsory secondary school for ages 12-16 and bachillerato for ages 17-18. The school has a state agreement (concierto) for the kindergarten, primary and compulsory secondary stages; bachillerato it runs itself, and the IB Diploma Programme operates within it.

What stands behind each entry

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), DP (ages 16-19). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

National programme

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.

What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Fundación Educativa Jesuitinasschool network

Fundación Educativa Jesuitinas is a Catholic school network created by the Congregation of the Daughters of Jesus (Hijas de Jesús); it is a canonical non-profit foundation that since 1 September 2018 has run the schools that had belonged to the congregation since 1871. According to its site, the network has 23 centres in 19 towns and cities across 9 Spanish autonomous communities, more than 19,000 students and 1,500 educators. Teaching runs from nursery to Bachillerato and vocational courses, and the schools are state-funded under agreement (concierto). Its schools are in places including Madrid, Bilbao, Seville, Málaga, Granada, Murcia, Pamplona, Valladolid, Salamanca, Burgos, A Coruña, Vigo and Badalona. The foundation's site is jesuitinas.es.

What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
