Liceo Europeo is a private bilingual school in La Moraleja, Madrid, on the Calle Camino Sur, running stages from one year to eighteen. It was founded by the educator Arsenio Inclán Alonso and has more than three decades of history; today his children run it. Its structure is unusual: at each stage the family chooses between tracks. From one to five there is the American programme - the International Nursery School. From six to eleven, the International Baccalaureate primary programme. From twelve to sixteen, the IB middle programme or the American programme, that is Liceo Europeo American School with grades 9 and 10. From seventeen to eighteen there is a choice of three: the national track, the IB Diploma Programme and the American programme. The school calls itself an authorised IB continuum centre and keeps Spanish as the language of the Diploma Programme. Beyond English the school offers French, German, Italian and Chinese. There are more than twenty extracurricular activities, from federated football, a ski club and a diving school to a rock band, robotics and debating. In summer the school runs a bilingual camp for children aged 1 to 12, its own pupils and others. The school publishes its fees itself: for 2026-2027 from 4280 euros for half a day in the nursery to 20980 euros in the senior grades of the American school, with lunch included in the price. In 2026 the school finished rebuilding 365 square metres of the bachillerato building. Fundación Liceo Europeo works alongside the school; the foundation's sixth charity run drew 600 participants for scholarships in Uganda. The main thing a parent needs to know: the register entry by which the school entered the ranking is named "Vermont Academy at Liceo Europeo", and there is currently no Vermont Academy section on the website.

Admissions The school takes foreign pupils: on its enrolment page it writes that both Spanish and international families study there, mostly from the north of Madrid and the surrounding area. Enrolment is open all year, from age one to eighteen. There are two steps: an information session with the technical directors with a tour of the school, and a day at school that the future pupil is invited to spend with a class. The school receives families at any time and individually. Entry to the American school carries a fee of 630 euros. The school publishes no tests, documents, deadlines, language requirements or procedure for recognising schooling abroad.

NEASCNew England Association of Schools and Colleges
An American accreditation working since 1885. For international schools it uses an approach where the visitors look first at live lessons rather than at folders of paperwork: the team works in the school for about a week. It is the only one here whose public directory honestly separates accredited schools from candidates.
What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), MYP (ages 11-16), DP (ages 16-19). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible. DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

One of the oldest American accreditations, working since 1887 in more than a hundred countries and linked to the Office of Overseas Schools of the US State Department. It judges the school as an institution across twelve areas, including finances, governance, premises and student support.

The American school programme, with the High School Diploma at the end. It usually comes together with AP courses, which the College Board stands behind, and with an American accreditation - MSA, NEASC or Cognia.
What this means for this school. The diploma is written out by the school itself: the American programme has no common leaving exam, and the content of the senior years is set by the school. Outside checking therefore rests on two things here - the accreditation of the school, and the AP exams if the school runs them.
National programme
The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.
Exams and destinations from the school's official website
The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
