Liceo Vico is a state liceo in Corsico, a suburb south-west of Milan. It opened in 1977 as a branch of a Milan liceo scientifico, became independent in 1979 and in 1984 was named after the philosopher Giambattista Vico. It now has three tracks: liceo scientifico, liceo delle scienze umane and its economic and social option; 1001 students attend in 47 classes. Teaching is in Italian. Since 2018 the school has run a Cambridge IGCSE course in liceo scientifico sections: English, chemistry, physics and mathematics in years 1-4 are taught partly in English to Cambridge syllabuses, and in year 4 students who wish sit IGCSE exams at the school. The course is free and taught by trained permanent staff. The school prepares students for Cambridge English exams, takes part in Erasmus+, hosts exchange students and sends its own students to study abroad.

About the fees It is a state school and tuition is free. The Cambridge course is free for families because it is taught by permanent teachers trained to teach in English; families may be asked to buy additional textbooks in English. According to the school, most of its funds come from voluntary family contributions (contributo volontario); the school states the contribution without an amount.
Admissions Enrolment in year 1 is through the national online procedure (Iscrizioni on line). A recommendation from the middle school to continue at a liceo (consiglio orientativo liceale) is required; without it applications are not considered. If there are more applicants than places, the school ranks them: the average year 2 middle school mark in Italian, mathematics, English, the second foreign language and science counts for 30% and a logic test for 70%; having a sibling at the school is also considered. From the 2026-2027 school year only applicants to the liceo delle scienze umane take the test; the liceo scientifico has no test. The site does not describe separate selection for the Cambridge section. Transfers from other schools and changes of track follow a regulation, via a questionnaire and the deputy head's office. Students without Italian citizenship make up 9.4% in the liceo scientifico and 6.3% in the liceo delle scienze umane; newly arrived students are admitted at the start of and during the year, with a questionnaire, a language test and Italian as a second language classes. Each year the school also hosts international exchange students.
Stages and year groups Grades 1-5 scuola secondaria di secondo grado. Five-year liceo following the Italian curriculum with the esame di Stato. Tracks: liceo scientifico (with Latin; under the Eureka Labs project extra practical hours in mathematics and physics in years 1-2), liceo delle scienze umane (with Latin) and liceo delle scienze umane opzione economico-sociale (law and economics, second foreign language French or Spanish). Cambridge IGCSE course since the 2018-2019 school year in liceo scientifico sections: English as a second language, chemistry, physics and mathematics taught partly in English to Cambridge syllabuses in years 1-4, optional IGCSE exams in year 4, free of charge; in 2025-2026 there are 6 Cambridge classes with 141 students. Since 2023-2024 the school has also offered a Cambridge course in the economic and social liceo: economics taught partly in English with the IGCSE Economics exam in year 4 and the option of IGCSE exams in English and Spanish as a second language. There is no AS and A Level course. In year 5 part of a subject is taught in a foreign language (CLIL).
Accreditations and programmes verified against official registries
Cambridge · IGCSE · authorised programmeThe Cambridge register names the school as its centre; it teaches Cambridge IGCSE. In the Cambridge sections of the science liceo, English, chemistry, physics and maths are partly taught in English in years 1-4, with optional IGCSE exams in year 4; the course is free.

CambridgeCambridge International Education
Part of the University of Cambridge. It allows a school to teach the Cambridge programmes and to enter pupils for the exams. There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level. If the stages are known they are named in the line below; if that line is missing, the school does not publish them, and the Cambridge registry does not show stages either - it gives only the name of the centre, the country and whether private candidates are accepted. Cambridge calls what it does registration rather than accreditation, and the network holds about ten thousand schools.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: IGCSE (ages 14-16). IGCSE means exams at around Year 10 or 11, the British counterpart of a lower secondary leaving certificate.

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Cambridge course subjects are taught by the school's permanent teachers, trained to teach in English. The share of permanent teachers with more than five years at the school is above the national, regional and provincial average, as is the share of teachers with specific inclusion training. The head has worked at the school for ten years. The school does not publish the number of teachers; a regular external teacher prepares students for Cambridge English exams.

Year 5 students take a first aid and defibrillator course.
Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
