Lycée Français Bilingue International - Malte (French Bilingual International School - Malta) is a French bilingual school in Pembroke that opened in September 2025; in the 2026-2027 school year it is welcoming its second intake. The school is run by the French non-profit association AFLEC (Association Franco-Libanaise pour l'Éducation et la Culture), which has schools in Lebanon, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Djerba; the network's bilingual school in Dubai provides teaching expertise. Teaching follows the French national curriculum. In kindergarten and primary the school day is divided equally between French and English, each language taught by a native-speaking teacher with an assistant. From kindergarten children are introduced to the Maltese language and culture; the school's motto is three languages and three cultures: French, English and Maltese. Mathematics is taught with the Singapore method and French reading with the Borel-Maisonny method. In collège (6e-3e, ages 11-14) students follow CNED courses (the French state distance-learning school) with on-site support from the school's teachers, which entitles them to sit the diplôme national du brevet. The school plans a lycée with the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI), American section. Lessons run from 8:00 to 14:30, and after lessons until 16:30 there are activities in French and English with the Alliance française. According to the AEFE, the school is a partner of the AEFE network, and three kindergarten classes are homologated: petite, moyenne and grande section.

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad
It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

The state programme of France. A school is homologated by the French ministry of education, and a leaver may move into a school in France without entrance tests. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What this means for this school. Which year groups of this school are covered by homologation - only the primary ones, or all the way to the final year - is not stated here. The difference matters: it decides whether the school takes a child through to the French baccalaureate or hands them on to another school halfway.
AFLECschool network
AFLEC is the Association Franco-Libanaise pour l'Éducation et la Culture, a non-profit association («association à but non lucratif«) founded in 2000. Its site says it «gère des établissements français homologués« — it runs French schools accredited by the French ministry. School counts differ on the site: the «Qui sommes-nous ?« page gives seven schools in four countries (Lebanon — LFIE Tyr, LFIE Beyrouth, LFIE Bchamoun; UAE — LFI Théodore Monod in Abu Dhabi, LFI Dubaï, ICE Dubaï; Tunisia — LFI Victor Hugo Djerba), while the list on the homepage adds LFBI Malte in Malta, making eight schools and five countries. In the UAE the network has three schools — two in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi. No student figures are given.
What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
