Franco-Hellenic lycée in Aghia Paraskevi, north-east Athens, part of the AEFE network by convention; two sections on one campus. The French section teaches from maternelle to Terminale under French national curriculum, with a Section Internationale Britannique and the Baccalauréat Français International. The Greek section follows the Greek ministry curriculum (Gymnasio and Lykeio) with reinforced French and prepares both for the Panhellenic exams and for French universities via Parcoursup. The school calls itself an "Îlot de la culture et de la langue française en Grèce", with pupils of 47 nationalities. Primary classes run 8:10 to 14:35, with after-school care and paid clubs until 16:35. Language of instruction inferred from the section pages: in the French section "La langue française constitue l'objet d'apprentissage central", the Greek section follows the Greek curriculum.

Tests are held twice: in spring for families living in Greece (April for primary, May for collège and lycée) and in August for those arriving from abroad. A FLSCO programme supports non-French speakers. The Greek section (first year of Gymnasio) admits by entrance exams in Greek language and mathematics; the British international section and the advanced Greek option (OGALCH) have their own entrance exams. Applications go online via Eduka, the platform opens in March.

Accreditations and programmes verified against official registries

What stands behind each entry

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad

It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.

What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

French programme

The state programme of France. A school is homologated by the French ministry of education, and a leaver may move into a school in France without entrance tests. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.

What this means for this school. Which year groups of this school are covered by homologation - only the primary ones, or all the way to the final year - is not stated here. The difference matters: it decides whether the school takes a child through to the French baccalaureate or hands them on to another school halfway.

National programme

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.

What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Reviews

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
