Mallorca International School is a private British school in the north of Mallorca, in the Crestatx development in the municipality of Sa Pobla, at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains. According to the head teacher the school opened in 2015 (the inspection report says September 2016) and belongs to the MySchool family of schools together with Palma College. It takes children from two or three to sixteen, from Pre-Nursery to Year 11, on one site, on the British national curriculum; if the family wishes, a pupil obtains a dual qualification with Spanish and Catalan. About 80 percent of lessons are in English and the rest in Spanish and Catalan; the British curriculum is taught by experienced native English speakers, first-language Spanish and Catalan by accredited Spanish teachers, and there is a separate group for those just starting Spanish. About 45 percent of pupils are Spanish, 40 percent English and the remaining 15 percent are families from all over the world. Classes have no more than 21 pupils, with teaching assistants and a multilingual inclusion team. Pupils sit GCSE with the Edexcel examination board, and many continue to the sixth form and A-Level at Palma College. On site there is an outdoor swimming pool, a science laboratory, an art studio, a library, two playgrounds, a forest school area and a sports court; for older pupils sport also takes place at the Sa Pobla sports complex, with sailing in Puerto Pollença and golf. The school includes textbooks, materials and educational trips in its fees, and sends the amounts themselves on request.

Admissions Admission runs in four steps: a visit with a tour and a meeting with the leadership and an enquiry form, then the latest school report and a pre-enrolment assessment (except in EYFS), an interview with a teacher for children aged 6 and over on their English, aptitude and needs followed at once by a meeting with the parents, and finally the offer of a place, documents, photographs and payment of the deposit and tuition. Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception take children without English; primary and secondary require English suitable for the age, and secondary also an interview with the head teacher. The head teacher, the school says, meets every family, and trial days can be arranged; enrolment requires a copy of the child's passport and the last school report. If English is not strong enough, the school offers an assessment at a meeting and help through its after-school language school, before and after joining. Children without Spanish are placed in the Spanish as a foreign language group. The school's pupils, by its own figures, are Spanish, English and families from all over the world.
Stages and year groups Grades Pre-Nursery (2 years) - Year 11 (16 years). The school teaches the British programme from Pre-Nursery to Year 11 on one site: the EYFS early years stage, primary and secondary. In primary there is an hour each day of English, mathematics and Spanish (with Catalan for those who speak it), while science, humanities, technology, music and art run as integrated topics; PE is two hours a week, with swimming in September and June. Key Stage 3 (11-14) covers art, drama, English, Spanish, German, mathematics, science, geography, history, ICT, Catalan and PSHE. Key Stage 4 (14-16) is the Edexcel GCSE programme with English language and literature, mathematics, science and Spanish plus options. There is no sixth form at the school: many continue to A-Level at Palma College in the same family of schools. Classes have no more than 21 pupils.

PearsonPearson Edexcel, a British exam board
It gives a school approved centre status: that means Pearson exams can be sat in the school itself. What is checked is the premises, the equipment, the secure storage of papers and the presence of trained invigilators.
What the badge means for this school. The school can run Pearson exams on its own premises. The status says nothing about teaching, about results or about the school itself: any school able to run an exam securely holds it. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. Which Pearson qualifications this school is approved for is not stated here.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
