Natura Montessori School is a private international Montessori school in the woods near Barcelona, in Castellbisbal. It was founded in 2019 in Molins de Rei by Andreea and Adrian, a multicultural family, and in 2022 the school moved to the 17th-century Catalan farmhouse Can Santeugini: a 1800 m2 building on a plot of more than 14000 m2 with its own woodland, vegetable garden, animals and a view of Montserrat. The school takes children from kindergarten to the secondary stage: Early Years (ages 2-6), Elementary (ages 6-12) and, from 2026, Montessori Secondary (ages 12-16). The pedagogy is classical Montessori to AMI standards with teachers trained or in training with AMI, plus Forest School: every Friday the youngest spend the whole day in the forest with specialists, and primary pupils go out every two weeks for bushcraft and survival lessons with real tools. The school calls itself trilingual: English, Spanish and Catalan are used in daily life, with native English-speaking assistants in the classrooms; an American curriculum is integrated into the programme. Groups are small: about one adult per eight children in Early Years and per twelve in Elementary. The school day runs from 9:00 to 15:30. Food is organic and local, with no refined sugar or ultra-processed products. The school has passed the on-site audit of the Middle States Association (the first phase of authorisation as an American international school) and is going through recognition by the Government of Catalonia as a foreign school. A coworking space for parents operates at the school.

What stands behind each entry

MSAMiddle States Association of Colleges and Schools

One of the oldest American accreditations, working since 1887 in more than a hundred countries and linked to the Office of Overseas Schools of the US State Department. It judges the school as an institution across twelve areas, including finances, governance, premises and student support.

What the badge means for this school. The school is a candidate for accreditation by this organisation: the route has been started but not completed. Candidacy speaks of an application made and a file accepted for consideration, not of the outcome of an inspection, and the organisations themselves usually require schools to say that it does not guarantee accreditation. The candidacy is confirmed in the organisation's open directory.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
