PACE Modern British School is a new school in the Rashidiya district of Dubai, and the main thing about it is the price: a year there costs between 20 and 30 thousand dirhams, several times less than the British schools of Dubai in the same BSO register. The school belongs to the PACE group, which by its own account has 22 years of work behind it and more than 23 thousand pupils in several countries. The curriculum is British, from EYFS onwards; the stages currently run from FS1 and FS2 to Year 11, and the school states plainly that year groups above Year 10 are added only with the permission of the Dubai education authority. The school names its leaving qualifications itself - GCSE, BTEC and A Level - and does not hide its examination board: the Pearson Edexcel and BSO badges stand on its site. The working week runs from Monday to Friday, with a short day on Friday; on Saturday and Sunday the school is closed, though the office works on Sundays. Among its internal services the school names a child protection team, pastoral work, a school emergency team and a house system.

About the fees The annual fee by year group: FS1 20,267 dirhams, FS2 and Year 1 21,737, Years 2 and 3 22,787, Year 4 23,208, Years 5 and 6 24,783, Year 7 26,043, Year 8 27,093, Year 9 27,430, Year 10 29,784 and Year 11 30,100. It is paid in three instalments. On top of the fee: a one-off entrance fee of 500 dirhams on admission, uniform 600 (which the school allows families to buy elsewhere), after-school activities from 500 to 3,000, language support from 1,000 to 2,000, school photography up to 1,000 and trips from 100 to 2,000. Books, stationery and a medical charge are compulsory and paid separately. Discounts: 10 per cent for UAE nationals and 15 per cent for the children of martyrs. The school warns that fees will rise if the Dubai education authority approves it.
Stages and year groups Grades FS1 - Year 11. The stages run from FS1 and FS2 up to Year 11. The school adds year groups above Year 10 only with the permission of the Dubai education authority, so its senior stage is not yet complete. The school day starts at 7:45 for Years 1 to 11, FS1 and FS2 finish at 12:15, and Friday is a short day. Saturday and Sunday are days off.
