Scuola Europa was founded in 1953: Cardinal Schuster, Archbishop of Milan, inspired by the European School of Luxembourg, asked Don Cesare Boga to open a school that would teach at least two foreign languages and prepare children for life in a united Europe. Since 1968 the school has been owned by a parents' cooperative, the first in Italy; since 1993 it has been at viale Majno 39 near Porta Venezia, and since 2000 all its stages have been paritaria. Today it is an all-through school for ages 3 to 19: a bilingual kindergarten, scuola primaria, scuola secondaria di primo grado and three licei - linguistico, scientifico scienze applicate and scienze umane opzione economico-sociale. Since 2016 it has been recognised as a Cambridge International School, and since 2024 it has run Cambridge programmes at every stage. Teaching follows the Italian state curriculum with some subjects in English: 32.5 hours of English a week in kindergarten, 13 hours in primary, including 8 hours of mathematics, science, history, geography, art and PE taught in English. The licei add Cambridge IGCSE and AS/A Level courses. Teachers are Italian and native speakers of English, German, French and Spanish; the school has a psychologist and a kindergarten pedagogical team.

Admissions Kindergarten admission starts with a formal application to the office, followed by an introductory meeting between the family and the kindergarten coordinator. For grade 1 of primary, children from other kindergartens attend a spring welcome day of workshops, the school requests a questionnaire from the previous kindergarten, and classes are formed by a committee including the psychologist. In lower secondary and the licei, if places are oversubscribed, the school's own students enrolled on time have priority; students transferring during the year are admitted if places are available and may take entrance tests. Children from abroad of compulsory school age are placed, under Italian rules, in the class matching their age, taking into account their previous schooling and an assessment; those entering the liceo beyond compulsory age need equivalence of their first-cycle diploma or a class council decision, possibly with supplementary exams. The school has teachers of Italian as a second language. Open days for the 2027/2028 school year are on 24 October and 21 November 2026.
Stages and year groups The Italian curriculum (Indicazioni Nazionali), ending with the esame di Stato (maturità) in three liceo tracks: linguistico (English, Spanish and a third language chosen from French, German or Chinese), scientifico scienze applicate (no Latin, with computing, data science and AI, ICDL) and scienze umane opzione economico-sociale (since 2025). Cambridge programmes at every stage: Cambridge Early Years in kindergarten; in scuola primaria Cambridge Primary English as a Second Language (5 hours) and 8 hours of subjects in English following Cambridge Primary, with the Cambridge Checkpoint exam (English as a Second Language); in lower secondary Cambridge Lower Secondary with the Cambridge Secondary Checkpoint exam at the end of year 3 (2 extra hours a week), co-taught geography, art and science with a native speaker, and optional Global Perspectives with a Cambridge exam; in the liceo linguistico IGCSE in the first two years (English as a Second Language, Geography, Drama, Maths, English Literature, Global Perspectives) and AS/A Level in years 3-4 (History, English Literature, Global Perspectives); in the liceo scientifico IGCSE English as a Second Language compulsory in the first two years and optional extracurricular IGCSE Economics, Additional Mathematics and Environmental Management; in the liceo economico-sociale IGCSE Sociology, English as a Second Language and Economics. CambridgeCambridge International Education
Part of the University of Cambridge. It allows a school to teach the Cambridge programmes and to enter pupils for the exams. There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level. If the stages are known they are named in the line below; if that line is missing, the school does not publish them, and the Cambridge registry does not show stages either - it gives only the name of the centre, the country and whether private candidates are accepted. Cambridge calls what it does registration rather than accreditation, and the network holds about ten thousand schools.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: Early Years (ages 3-6), Primary (ages 5-11), Lower Secondary (ages 11-14), IGCSE (ages 14-16), A-Level (ages 16-18). Early Years is the nursery stage, ages 3 to 6. There are no exams at the end: the stage describes what the youngest children are taught and how, and it follows the Cambridge frame rather than a national nursery programme. Primary is the primary stage, ages 5 to 11: English, mathematics and science to Cambridge syllabuses. At the end of the stage a school may run the optional Checkpoint test, which is marked in Cambridge. Lower Secondary is the middle stage, ages 11 to 14, with the same optional Checkpoint test at the end. IGCSE means exams at around Year 10 or 11, the British counterpart of a lower secondary leaving certificate. A-Level is the senior years, and their results are what British and many other universities admit on.
Register to check for yourself, and the full guide →National programme
The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
