Szczecin International School (SIS) is a private international school in central Szczecin, opened in 2002 as the multinational NATO corps was being established in the city. It first operated in a historic building at ul. Mickiewicza 49, then on ul. Starzyńskiego, and since 2016 in a former state lyceum building on ul. bł. Królowej Jadwigi. The school runs all three IB programmes: the Diploma Programme since 2005 and the Primary Years and Middle Years Programmes since 2021; it is the only school in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship with the full IB continuum. Formally it is a szkoła podstawowa with international sections and a lyceum, combined in a zespół szkół. Teaching is in English, as the statute states; Polish students study Polish language, history and geography of Poland under the Polish curriculum, and international students learn Polish as a foreign language. Students come from 21 countries.

About the fees The school does not publish tuition amounts on its website: under the statute education is fee-paying, and payment terms are set by the contract with parents. The application form allows the fees to be paid by an employer.
Admissions Admission runs all year, into any grade and during the school year. Required are an application form, a copy of the birth certificate, the last school report (or a semester report) and, if applicable, an opinion from a psychological-pedagogical clinic; a compulsory recruitment fee is paid on application - 350 PLN in 2025-2026. Candidates are invited for trial days with diagnostic tests and teacher feedback; if trial days are not possible, only the tests are arranged. For Reception Year to grade 3 selection is through trial days or an interview; grades 4-5 are tested in mother tongue, English and mathematics; grades 6-10 also in science; grade 11 (first year of the Diploma Programme) in a Language A (Polish, German or Danish), English, mathematics and one or two sciences, with possible extra requirements for chosen subjects. The bilingual application form asks for the child's nationality and allows fees to be paid by an employer; the statute provides Polish as a foreign language for students without Polish citizenship.
Stages and year groups Grades 0 (Reception), 1-12. SIS grades map onto the Polish system: Reception Year (zerówka, ages 5-6), Primary Grades 1-5 (szkoła podstawowa grades 1-5), Middle Grades 6-10 (primary grades 6-8 and lyceum grades 1-2), Diploma Grades 11-12 (lyceum grades 3-4). IB programmes: the PYP from Reception to grade 5, the MYP in grades 6-10, the Diploma Programme in grades 11-12 (six subjects, three higher and three standard level, plus TOK, CAS and the Extended Essay). Language A in the DP is Polish, German or Danish. Polish students also sit Polish external exams: the school registers them for the egzamin ósmoklasisty. The kindergarten operates separately with its own website, iks.info.pl.

What stands behind each entry

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), MYP (ages 11-16), DP (ages 16-19). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible. DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
