The school was founded by the ENKA Foundation on 24 October 1999, for children who had lost their parents in the Marmara earthquake of that year; it still gives priority in admission to children who have lost a mother or a father and covers their educational costs. Teaching started in prefabricated buildings on a site of 56,500 square metres, and the permanent buildings were completed in 2016. The school gives its roll as 690 pupils. ENKA Okulları is a group of three schools: Istanbul, Adapazarı and Kocaeli.

About the fees The range is the tuition fee including 10 per cent VAT for the 2026-2027 year: from 147,151 lira in grade 4 to 346,821 lira in grades 1 and 5. Meals are charged separately at 102,696 lira at every stage, so tuition with meals comes to between 249,847 and 449,517 lira. The school gives no figures excluding VAT. The figures hold for families who enrol within the window set for their stage: after it, payment in full rises by 8 per cent and the instalment plan becomes 25 per cent down plus four equal parts.
Admissions Re-enrolment for the new year is done online: the parent signs in with the child's identity number and their own mobile number and fills in eight forms in order, then receives a confirmation by email. Each stage has its own dates in the enrolment calendar; for the move from grade 8 to the preparatory year, enrolment is open from 25 June to 20 July. The ministry contract and the pupil health form are signed separately by the mother and the father, or by the guardian, and handed to the admissions officer in person. Payment must be completed within the window set for the stage, or the enrolment does not count as finished.
Stages and year groups The campus holds a kindergarten and primary school, a secondary school, an Anadolu Lisesi and a Fen ve Teknoloji Lisesi. In the fee list the grades run from 1 to 12, with a preparatory year between grades 8 and 9. The kindergarten programme is described separately and follows the PYP framework: children learn by discovery and by asking their own questions, with much room given to play and to school trips. The school calls its primary school an authorised PYP school.

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), MYP (ages 11-16). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible.

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. ENKA Okullarıschool network
Schools of the ENKA foundation (ENKA Vakfı): the Istanbul school is called a private school of the foundation outright by its own site, which dates its founding to 1996. There are three schools. The Istanbul one stands on the European shore, in the Enka Sadi Gülçelik sports complex on fifty thousand square metres; it calls itself the first school in Turkey with IB PYP authorisation and is accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The Adapazarı one was opened in 1999, right after the Marmara earthquake, for pupils who had suffered in it: its primary school runs the PYP, its middle school and its Anadolu high school are working towards the MYP, and its science and technology high school is new. The third school is in Kocaeli. The network teaches bilingually, in English and in Turkish depending on the subject, and writes that between eighty and ninety per cent of its leavers go on to study abroad.

Campus: A campus of 56,500 square metres; the permanent buildings were completed in 2016. Besides the teaching blocks the grounds hold an indoor swimming pool, a gym, tennis courts, a guesthouse, a dining hall and an auditorium, and also a farm where different animals live freely, along with farmland and greenhouses in which pupils grow plants themselves.
