The French international school of Ljubljana has taken children of all nationalities since 1992 and follows the French national curriculum from the crèche to the final year of the lycée. There are few students, around sixty, and they are not only French families: more than a third are Slovenian, around a third French and binational children and a quarter from other countries, more than fifteen nationalities in all. Every subject apart from languages is taught in French, but French is not required at entry: non-French speakers have separate lessons in French as a foreign language and Slovenian-speaking assistants, and everyone learns Slovenian and English from kindergarten. The main site is on Ulica Dušana Kraigherja, where the school has two gyms, a library, a canteen and several playgrounds, while the lycée classes are taught on a second site, in the premises of the Goethe-Institut in the Mirje district, together with the French distance learning centre CNED. The school sits its own leaving examinations in full: both the DNB at the end of collège and the French baccalauréat, with a pass rate of one hundred per cent several years in a row. The school does not publish a list of graduate universities, saying only that they study at universities across Europe.

About the fees Fees for the 2025/26 school year are published as text in the school's financial regulations, separately for the crèche and separately for the school from the age of three. The crèche for children from 11 months to three years costs 6 150 euros a year, and that sum includes the full day and care during the holidays. Kindergarten from petite section costs 6 150 euros, primary school 6 650, collège 6ème-4ème 7 490, the final 3ème year 8 526 and the lycée 8 625 euros; the last two sums include the CNED fee of 1 120 euros. The school has not yet published the regulations for 2026/27, and the most recent in its document library are those for 2025/26 and 2024/25. There is no separate, more expensive employer rate in the current regulations: a private individual and a legal entity differ only in who the invoice is made out to. Discounts on tuition: 4 per cent for a second child in the family, 10 for a third, 15 for a fourth and 20 for a fifth; a further 4 per cent for payment in a single instalment and 2 per cent for payment by direct debit. No VAT is charged on tuition.
Admissions Admission is open all year and without competition: the school takes children of all nationalities from 11 months to 18 years. For the crèche, kindergarten and primary school French is not required - non-French speakers are offered lessons in French as a foreign language and Slovenian-speaking assistants. Entry into collège is possible at any point in the year and basic French is desirable, but the final 3ème year already calls for good French and enrolment is only possible until mid-November. The lycée requires confident French, and entry there is only possible in September. Documents: a birth certificate or an equivalent document, copies of the parents' passports or identity cards, a vaccination certificate and, for a transfer from another school, a leaving certificate and school report; plus the signed financial regulations and contract. The application is made through an online pre-registration form.
Stages and year groups Grades Crèche - Terminale. A crèche group from 11 months to three years and toute petite section, kindergarten with petite, moyenne and grande section (ages 3-6), primary school CP-CM2 (ages 6-11), collège 6ème-3ème (ages 11-15) with the DNB at the end and lycée 2nde, 1ère and terminale (ages 15-18) with the French baccalauréat. From 1ère a lycée student chooses specialist subjects. The lycée classes are taught on a second site, in the premises of the Goethe-Institut in the Mirje district, and the school runs them together with CNED. Twelve of the school's fifteen stages hold French homologation.

The school is open from the beginning of September to the end of July, and childcare runs during the holidays, for its own children and for others. At the start of the summer holidays the school runs a summer camp where children get used to being independent and to a new environment. The staff list is published by name, with positions, subjects and work emails: twenty-eight people, of whom twenty are childcare staff and teachers (crèche, kindergarten, three primary teachers, and collège and lycée subject teachers for mathematics, science, history and geography, French and philosophy, English, German, Spanish, Italian, sport and music), four French civic service volunteers, three administrators and one care assistant.
