Bosqueko Forest School is a private forest school on Gran Canaria, five minutes from the centre of Santa Brígida and two minutes from the ring road. It stands inside a private estate in Monte Lentiscal, in a main building with a historic face and modern fittings, and it calls the way it works a "permeable school": learning happens both inside and outside, and the school treats the walls between the two as provisional. There are three stages: Bosqueko Nido for the youngest, an environment for ages three to five, and a primary school from six to twelve. The school builds the official curriculum into its own forest-school method. A distinct strength is sustainability as part of the educational project rather than a slogan: separated waste, reduced kitchen waste and local sourcing, vegetable gardens with their own compost and vermicompost, teaching materials made from natural or recycled things, a water purification system for drinking, a treatment plant, ponds and green areas for biodiversity.

Admissions Admission runs in four steps: a short form about the family's interests and expectations, then a video interview, then a visit by the whole family to see the "learning territory", then a review by the teaching team and a decision subject to places. If the decision is favourable but no place is free, the school offers a waiting list and promises to come back as soon as one opens. The school does not write about foreigners or citizenship on its admission page.

What stands behind each entry

NEASCNew England Association of Schools and Colleges

An American accreditation working since 1885. For international schools it uses an approach where the visitors look first at live lessons rather than at folders of paperwork: the team works in the school for about a week. It is the only one here whose public directory honestly separates accredited schools from candidates.

What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

National programme

The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.

What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.

Exams and destinations from the school's official website

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Campus: The school stands inside a private estate in Monte Lentiscal, five minutes from the centre of Santa Brígida and two minutes from the ring road. The main building combines a historic face with modern amenities; beyond it there are separate outdoor areas for different needs. The grounds hold vegetable gardens with their own compost and vermicompost, a water purification system for drinking, a treatment plant, ponds and green areas for biodiversity.
Summer camp: the school runs its own camp; whether it takes children from outside is not stated on the website
Bosqueko Verano is a summer programme for children roughly aged three to nine with a minimum booking of one week; separately the school runs a Cinema and Nature camp for ten to thirteen-year-olds with the Gran Canarian film-maker Natanael Cardona, from 20 to 31 July 2026, on weekdays from 8:30 to 14:30, with meals and a small group.

Reviews

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
