British School of Vila-real was founded in 1996 and was the first British and bilingual education project in the province of Castellón. In 2009 the school built its senior building and in 2010 its first class graduated; later it introduced the International Primary Curriculum, and in 2015 it joined the International Schools Partnership group. It takes children from two and teaches them to eighteen on the British national curriculum, from EYFS to IGCSE and A Level, and in parallel on the Spanish curriculum, so all leavers receive a double certificate. Lessons are in English; in the nursery and primary school English and Spanish are both languages of instruction; Valencian is taught under the Spanish curriculum, from the fifth grade French, German or Chinese is added, and from the eighth a second foreign language. Children of more than 39 nationalities attend the school. The school publishes its results: 42 per cent A*-A grades at A Level, 32 per cent 9-7 at IGCSE, an average Spanish bachillerato grade of 8.21 and an average university entrance grade of 11.5 out of 14. The campus has four science laboratories, a STEM lab, swimming pools and a drama studio; six bus routes cover the provinces of Castellón and Valencia. Child protection is led by the school psychologists, and there is a written child protection policy and an anti-bullying protocol. In summer the English camp Magic Summer School runs for children aged 3-16, and on Saturdays there are English, Chinese and French courses.

About the fees The school publishes its fees as monthly sums for 2026-2027 and does not say how many payments a year they are divided into: Nursery 2 - 410 euros for half a day and 622 euros for a full day, Nursery 3 and Reception - 622 euros, Years 1-6 - 790 euros, Years 7-11 - 914 euros, Years 12-13 - 986 euros. Meals, materials and the breakfast club are included in the fee; the bus at 1000 euros a year and textbooks are extra.
Admissions The school takes foreign pupils: children of more than 39 nationalities study there, international families get multilingual support during admission, and after payment the school issues an official certificate of enrolment, which families from abroad use for visas and other documents. Admission is open all year round. The procedure has seven steps: contacting admissions by telephone, email or through the site, a tour of the school during school hours or a virtual tour with the admissions director Esther Bravo, an offer letter together with the registration forms and the parents' contract, a trial day for pupils from primary upwards, confirmation of the place within 14 days, payment of the registration and enrolment fees, and the certificate of enrolment. Applicants to primary, secondary and the Sixth Form take a short test in Spanish and English. For A Levels a pupil from another system must have completed the compulsory stage of their own country and have excellent English.
Stages and year groups Grades Nursery 2 (from age 2) - Year 13 (to age 18). The stages run right through: Early Years from 2 to 5 on the British EYFS programme, primary school (Key Stages 1-2) from 5-6 to 11, secondary (Key Stages 3-4) from 11-12 to 16 with IGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11, and the Sixth Form (Years 12-13) from 16 to 18 with A Levels. At every stage pupils also complete the Spanish curriculum and receive a double British and Spanish certificate. School tours run during school hours from 9:00 to 17:00, and the breakfast club opens at 7:00. Groups, the school says, are small.

What stands behind each entry

CambridgeCambridge International Education

Part of the University of Cambridge. It allows a school to teach the Cambridge programmes and to enter pupils for the exams. There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level. If the stages are known they are named in the line below; if that line is missing, the school does not publish them, and the Cambridge registry does not show stages either - it gives only the name of the centre, the country and whether private candidates are accepted. Cambridge calls what it does registration rather than accreditation, and the network holds about ten thousand schools.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: IGCSE (ages 14-16), A-Level (ages 16-18). IGCSE means exams at around Year 10 or 11, the British counterpart of a lower secondary leaving certificate. A-Level is the senior years, and their results are what British and many other universities admit on.

International Schools Partnershipschool network

A group of private international schools, founded in 2013 by five leaders from international education. The numbers diverge: the home page gives 121 schools in 26 countries and "132,000+" pupils, the "About us" page - 106 schools in 25 countries, the "Who and where we are" page - 121 schools in more than 26 markets and 118,000 pupils. The site writes that schools keep their own character, brand and curriculum when they join ISP, but does not say whether ISP buys the schools, manages them under contract or brings them together by membership.

What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

Four English sessions a day, outdoor sport and games, swimming in a heated pool with instructors, and for the youngest aged 3-5 a children's pool of their own and an extra teaching assistant. "Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
