Col·legi Mare Janer in Santa Coloma (Andorra la Vella parish) is a Catholic private school of the Spanish education system run by the «Institut de Germanes de la Sagrada Família d'Urgell» (Sisters of the Holy Family of Urgell). The school calls itself a «centre espanyol confessional a l'estranger finançat íntegrament pel M.I. Govern d'Andorra» (Spanish denominational school abroad fully funded by the Government of Andorra) that admits students from all parishes of the country. Its history starts with the congregation's school in Andorra la Vella, opened in 1883; it moved to its current building in Santa Coloma in the 1968-1969 school year, and teaching has been free since the 1977-1978 school year. Stages: Infantil from I2 (age two), Primària and ESO up to age 16; there is no Batxillerat. Lessons are taught in Catalan: the family information sheet first names the «vehicular d'ensenyament-aprenentatge» language (language of instruction) with a level certificate in 4t d'ESO, while Spanish is described separately as the «L. Castellana» subject; the ESO mathematics textbook for the 2026-2027 school year is in Catalan, and the whole website and forms are in Catalan. English starts in I2, and from I4 a native assistant joins lessons once a week; French starts in Infantil, with a native assistant every two weeks. The school has been in the UNESCO network since 2004 and in «Escoles Verdes d'Andorra» since 2014, is ISO 9001:2015 certified, and since the 2023-2024 school year has worked with Language Kingdom so students can join study programmes abroad. School day: Infantil and Primària from 8:40 to 17:00, ESO from 8:00 to 16:00.

About the fees Teaching is free: the school states «NO quota mensual» (no monthly fee) and «No es paga matrícula, només allò que es consumeix» (no enrolment fee, only what is consumed: canteen, textbooks, materials). The school is fully funded by the Government of Andorra, and teaching has been free since the 1977-1978 school year.
Admissions The website publishes a pre-registration form («Full de preinscripció») asking for country of birth, nationality, passport or DNI, CASS number, home language and previous school; signing it means accepting the «Caràcter Propi» (the school's own ethos) and the internal rules. Submitting the form is not enrolment: the student is admitted if there is a place. The school says it admits students from all parishes of Andorra; a visit can be arranged with the management by email or phone.
Stages and year groups Grades Infantil I2-I5, Primària 1r-6è, ESO 1r-4t. Educació Infantil in two cycles: I2 (first cycle, from age two) and I3, I4, I5 (second cycle); Primària - 6 years, ESO - 4 years; the school says children spend 13 years there. Accreditations and programmes verified against official registries

MEFPD

What stands behind each entry

MEFPDMinistry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports of Spain

A school of the Spanish education system abroad: run by the Spanish state, or a private Spanish school supervised by the ministry, or a school under an agreement with the ministry. The curriculum is Spanish, and leavers receive the Spanish certificate. Every such school is named in Spain's state register of schools, each with its own code.

What the badge means for this school. This is a Spanish school abroad, and that can be checked in Spain's state register. The entry is not a quality inspection: a school is on the register as part of the Spanish system, not as the outcome of an assessment. The curriculum and the certificate are Spanish. What other programmes the school offers, and what it charges, are on its own website. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

Spanish programme

The state school programme of Spain, with the Spanish certificates: ESO at 16 and the Bachiller after the baccalaureate.

What this means for this school. The programme is set by the Spanish Ministry of Education, which also names the school in its state register of schools, in the "abroad" section. Leavers receive Spanish qualifications: the Graduado en ESO after secondary school and the título de Bachiller after the baccalaureate. They are used for entry to Spanish universities; in other countries they are matched to local ones.

Exams and destinations from the school's official website

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
