Colegio Internacional Camarena Canet is a private international school in Canet d'en Berenguer in the Camp de Morvedre area near Valencia, opened in 2013. It teaches the Spanish curriculum together with the International Baccalaureate programmes and runs all three in a row: the Primary Years Programme (PEP) from age three, the Middle Years Programme (PAI) and the IB diploma, authorised in 2024; the school writes that it is the only one in its area with three IB programmes. Teaching is bilingual, Spanish and English: in the nursery about 70 per cent of the time is in English, in primary about half, in secondary about a third; from the fifth year of primary French or German is added, and Valencian is taught. Children are taken from four months, and the youngest have their own Baby Camarena Canet project with a multisensory room. The school is a Cambridge exam centre, and 96 to 100 per cent of its students pass Cambridge exams. Results for 2025-2026: all students passed the university entrance exam with an average of 7.42, and the first IB diploma cohort all completed the programme with an average of 31.56 and a best score of 41 out of 45. The school is an Apple Distinguished School; from the fifth year of primary each pupil has an iPad, and in the bachillerato a MacBook. On an 11000 square metre site there are three buildings, laboratories, pools and five sports courts, a school nurse, its own kitchens and 21 bus routes. In summer there is an English camp and an intensive Spanish course for international students.

Admissions Places for 2026-27 are open for children from four months to the bachillerato. The procedure has three steps: a request for information by form or telephone, a tour of the school on a school day, and an enrolment form with payment of the place fee (matrícula), which is paid only once a place has been offered. All families have an interview, and children entering primary and secondary school take knowledge tests; availability depends on the year group and the date of application. The school takes international students: its language policy requires international students to keep studying their mother tongues, and in summer it runs an intensive Spanish course for foreign children aged 6-14 so they can join a class in September. Large families receive a discount. For the IB diploma, after the fifth year of PAI a student chooses between the IB and the national bachillerato.
Stages and year groups Grades nursery from 4 months - 2nd year of bachillerato (to age 18). The first nursery cycle from four months to three years, three years long, with its own Baby Camarena Canet project; the second cycle from three to six already follows the IB Primary Years Programme (PEP); primary school from six to twelve under the PEP; secondary school under the PAI with a personal project in the final year; the national bachillerato in humanities and science-technology versions, or the IB diploma in English and Spanish with three tracks - engineering, health sciences and social sciences. The school day runs from 9:00 to 17:00; in the fifth and sixth years of primary subject teachers already teach.

What stands behind each entry

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: PYP (ages 3-12), MYP (ages 11-16), DP (ages 16-19). PYP is the primary stage, ages 3 to 12. It is not a set of subjects but a frame for the whole school: learning is built around lines of inquiry, and there are no exams at the end. MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible. DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 7 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
