Colegio Internacional Ausiàs March has operated in Picassent near Valencia since 1972 - a secular private school with no political or religious affiliation, since 2001 the first school in Spain with an ISO 9001 certificate, and now part of the international group Affinitas Education. It takes children from three to eighteen, with all stages on one 20000-square-metre campus with a pool, a football pitch and a covered sports hall; 15 bus routes serve it from Valencia and the suburbs. International Baccalaureate: the Diploma Programme since 2016, the Middle Years Programme in ESO since 2024, and for the primary programme the school is a candidate. English takes half the day in infant school, 45 per cent in primary and a third in ESO; from ESO French or German is added, with Chinese as an option. The school publishes its results: the 2025 IB average was 30, the university entrance mark via the IB has been higher than that of the national bachillerato at the same school for seven years running, and everyone passed the PAU in 2025. Leavers have gone on to the University of Toronto, CUHK, Utrecht, ESADE, Comillas ICADE and the Universidad de Navarra. Children of more than 20 nationalities study at the school. There are psycho-pedagogy staff and a permanent nurse, the Emocionándote emotional development programme and the Affinitas child protection policy. Fees range from 455 to 1050 euros a month, with no enrolment fee. In summer the campus hosts a Summer Campus for children aged three to twelve.

About the fees The school publishes its 2026/27 fees itself, monthly from September to June: infant school - 455 euros, primary - 543, years 1-2 of ESO-PAI - 595, years 3-4 of ESO-PAI - 629, the first year of bachillerato - 733, the first year of the IB Diploma Programme - 909 euros a month; the second year of bachillerato (873 euros) and the second year of the Diploma Programme (1050 euros) are paid in nine instalments, September to May. A year comes to between 4550 and 9450 euros. There is no enrolment fee: on enrolment or its renewal one monthly payment is taken as a deposit, and it is returned in November to families who stay. On top of the fee: a half-yearly charge of 310 euros a year in infant and primary school and 145 euros in ESO and bachillerato, compulsory services - insurance, the medical and psychological service, cultural activities - at 60 euros a year each, materials at 92 euros a year, and a digital fee of 12.50 euros a month in primary and ESO. Lunch costs 164 euros a month, extended hours 25 euros per family, the bus from Valencia 177 euros a month and from Picassent 84.
Admissions The school admits foreign pupils: in its own words, children from more than 20 countries study on the campus, and it calls the diversity of nationalities part of learning. Admission runs throughout the school year, from September to July, through the admissions officer: first the school checks whether there is a place in the required year, then asks for the latest marks from the previous school, shows the family around the campus and can arrange for the child to meet the guidance service, to see how the child will adapt and how to help them settle in; all of this is free. Enrolment is then completed with a set of documents, and the place is secured by a deposit equal to one monthly payment, which is returned in November. The school names no special requirements for foreigners, such as Spanish or homologation of documents.
Stages and year groups Grades kindergarten from age 3 - year 2 of the bachillerato / Diploma Programme, up to age 18. Stages follow the Spanish system, all on one campus: Educación Infantil from three to six (50 per cent of the day in English), Educación Primaria from six to twelve (45 per cent), ESO-PAI from twelve to sixteen under the IB Middle Years Programme (33 per cent), then a choice of the national bachillerato or the IB Diploma Programme, for which pupils are prepared in the third and fourth years of ESO. For the PYP in primary the school is a candidate. The school day runs from 9:00 to 17:00, and clubs take place in the lunch break, within the day.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: MYP (ages 11-16), DP (ages 16-19). MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible. DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.
Register to check for yourself, and the full guide →National programme
The state school programme of the country the school stands in: it is set by that country's ministry of education, which also licenses the school and awards the leaving certificate. That certificate is used for entry to local universities, and abroad it is matched to the local one.
What this means for this school. This entry does not count towards the score, and that is deliberate. Every lawful school in a country works to the national programme, so on its own it tells one school apart from no other - unlike the French, German or Russian programmes, which are carried abroad and confirmed by the register of their organisation. We show it because a parent needs to know what programme their child is taught and what certificate the child will get. Counting it would lift the whole ranking at once and still tell nobody apart.
Affinitas Educationschool network
Affinitas Education is an international group of private schools; its site gives neither a founding year nor an owner. The group gives different school counts on its own pages - "30 international schools" in the text, "30+" in a counter and 25 schools in the catalogue on the same page - and we quote all three: choosing for a group which of its own numbers is correct is not something we do. On the same page the group cites more than 20,000 students, 7 countries and 3 continents; its catalogue includes schools in Spain, Portugal, Italy, the United States, Mexico and Brazil. In Spain there are six schools: in Seville, Madrid, Málaga, Xàbia (Alicante province) and two in the province of Valencia. The group's site is affinitasedu.com.
What this means for this school. The network owns or operates the school. Its accreditation and programme authorisation the school obtains separately, in its own name.

By name the school lists its headteacher, Carles Girbés. It describes its teachers as bilingual educators whose relationship with pupils is based on trust rather than hierarchy, and it quotes a family rating of 8.9 out of 10 for closeness of the teachers. IB Diploma groups have from 11 to 25 pupils. A qualified nurse works at the school permanently. The school writes about safe recruitment of staff according to international practice. It gives neither the number of teachers nor the pupil-teacher ratio.

The guidance and psycho-pedagogy department and a qualified nurse permanently on site are named as one service: the nurse handles health monitoring, menus, chronic conditions and medication, while the psycho-pedagogy staff handle early detection of difficulties in infant school, study techniques in primary, and assessment and support in ESO and bachillerato. As an Affinitas network school it publishes a "Bienestar Personal" section: a child protection policy, prevention of bullying and positive behaviour, an internal reporting channel, health, safety and first aid rules, digital safety and safe recruitment of staff; child protection is part of the curriculum as a separate course. The Emocionándote emotional development programme runs through all stages. The school is a Save the Children ambassador centre.
Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.
Criteria breakdown criterion weight in brackets
Academics and programmes (16%)88 Community rating (16%)no dataparent reviews are needed: the criterion switches on at the fifth verified one Exams and destinations (12%) scored on disclosed data80 Safety and wellbeing (12%) scored on disclosed data75 Accreditation and verifiability (10%)85 Teaching staff (10%) scored on disclosed data55 Facilities (10%) scored on disclosed data85 Clubs and activities (8%) scored on disclosed data78 "Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
