A French school in Skopje, opened in 1999. It occupies an urban building near the city centre, in the Karposh municipality. The school follows the curriculum of the French Ministry of National Education and is accredited by it for all its classes, from Petite section to 3e; it belongs to the AEFE network. It has 96 pupils in 9 small classes: a kindergarten for children aged 2 to 6, an elementary school for ages 6-11 (CP - CM2) and a middle school with subject teaching for ages 11-15 (6e - 3e). The school motto is "one school, three languages". Lessons are taught in French: the curriculum is French, and the internal regulations name French as the main language of school life. Pupils study English and Macedonian (or Albanian) from kindergarten: 2 hours a week in kindergarten and 3 hours from first grade, and one of the three English hours is used for science and technology taught in English. In its brochure the school says English and Macedonian gradually rise to about 40 percent of teaching time, and each class has three teachers: French, English and Macedonian. Children whose first language is not French are supported by the Passerelle programme - 3 hours of French a week, aiming at independence in less than a year. Pupils include Macedonians, French, Belgians, Swiss, Americans, Italians, Greeks, Spaniards and Ukrainians. Lessons run from 8:30 to 15:30 with a lunch break from 12:00 to 13:30, on Friday until 12:30; children are received from 7:30 and supervised until 18:00. Uniform is compulsory and mobile phones are banned at school.

The kindergarten takes children who do and do not speak French into any group; the kindergarten page says children are accepted from one and a half years, the admissions page and the principal's note say from 2 years. Admission has three steps: an online application with the Fiche de Renseignements form, a pedagogical interview within 5 working days of the application, and a decision by email within 2-3 days. A place is confirmed only after the first enrolment fee is paid, and the fee is non-refundable; the school confirms final enrolment by email within 7 days of payment. The school names no entrance exam and no French language requirement; the Passerelle programme exists for non-French speakers.

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad
It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What the badge means for this school. The school has been through this organisation's accreditation. It was judged as a whole: governance, safeguarding, staff, premises, teaching. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it.

The state programme of France. A school is homologated by the French ministry of education, and a leaver may move into a school in France without entrance tests. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.
What this means for this school. Which year groups of this school are covered by homologation - only the primary ones, or all the way to the final year - is not stated here. The difference matters: it decides whether the school takes a child through to the French baccalaureate or hands them on to another school halfway.

The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
