Saint Louis des Français, in Spanish Colegio San Luis de los Franceses, is a private co-educational Catholic trilingual school in Pozuelo de Alarcón near Madrid. It belongs to the charitable Œuvre Saint Louis des Français, which goes back to a hospital foundation of 1613 and has been headed by the French ambassador to Spain since 1856, and since 1964 it has been under the spiritual care of the Carmelite Institut Notre Dame de Vie; all of the school's surplus, by its own account, goes to charity. The college was founded in 1856; today it has about 1100 pupils from the crèche to the baccalaureate, from one to eighteen years old. The school runs two paths: a French one, accredited by the French Ministry of Education in partnership with AEFE, and a Spanish bilingual one. In kindergarten the day runs half in Spanish and half in French; in primary the French path teaches more than 72 percent of subjects in French and the bilingual path more than 50 percent; in secondary the Label France Education programme gives 40 percent of time in French. English with native teachers runs from age three and in the upper years for 4 hours a week. At the end the school offers the Spanish bachillerato in all streams, the Bachibac, the French baccalaureate and the American diploma through the Dual programme; the school is an official Cambridge examination centre and prepares for DELF and DALF. The school names four pillars of its education itself: Christian faith, tradition, trilingualism and continuous improvement. The school has five dining rooms with its own kitchen, a doctor and a nurse, psychologists, and school buses across Madrid and the north-west of the region.

About the fees The school publishes its fees itself, in a summary table for the 2025-2026 school year, in euros per year including languages: kindergarten at 1-2 years 4455 euros, 3-5 years 4707, primary years 1 to 4: 5076, years 5-6: 5940, ESO years 1-2: 6255, years 3-4: 6471, bachillerato 6948 euros. The fee is debited in nine payments from September to May, on the 4th of each month for the month just ended. The school gives a discount to large families; it does not apply to languages.
Admissions The school describes admission in four steps: contact by telephone or through a form, a visit to the school during school hours, an interview of the family and the child with the head, and formal enrolment. From the first year of primary, the family brings the marks of the last three terms to the interview; depending on the previous school, tests are set, above all in languages, so that support can be planned in advance. The school states directly that it takes children who do not speak French and children who do not speak Spanish at every stage from kindergarten to the lycée, with accelerated language learning, and runs a programme for newly arrived pupils with language needs. After the application is confirmed, the child's documents are handed in within a month, permissions are signed and an enrolment fee is paid.
Stages and year groups Grades crèche (from 1 year) - 2nd year of bachillerato (18 years). The early years stage is the crèche and kindergarten from 1 to 5 years: from two, children get used to Spanish and French, and from three the day runs half in each language with English twice a week. Primary runs on two paths: the French accredited one, where mathematics is in French on the French programme, and the Spanish bilingual one, where it is in Spanish; English is 3 hours a week from CP to CM1 and 4 hours in CM2 and the 6th year. Secondary ESO follows the Label France Education programme, and in the 3rd year the French Diplôme National du Brevet is sat. The bachillerato covers all Spanish streams: sciences, humanities, social sciences and arts; the Bachibac, the French baccalaureate or the American Dual diploma can be added to it. The school day runs Monday to Thursday from 8:45 to 17:00, on Friday to 16:00, in the 2nd year of bachillerato to 15:00.

AEFEAgency for French Education Abroad
It runs the network of French schools worldwide, while the accreditation itself, the homologation, is granted by the French education ministry and inspected by French state inspectors. A leaver from a homologated school moves into a school in France without an entrance examination. Homologation is granted stage by stage, so it sometimes covers only part of the year groups.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
