Oakley College is a private British school in the quiet residential district of Tafira Alta on the edge of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 15 minutes from the city. It was founded by Donat and Mary Morgan: in 1989 they opened a nursery for 32 children aged three and four, then moved to a converted chalet in Los Hoyos and over fifteen years developed the primary and secondary school. Since September 2005 the school has been on its present site in Calle Zuloaga; an A-Level block opened in 2011, Oakley Park with more than 5000 square metres of playing fields, a nature area and a science garden in 2019, and a new building for children aged 2 to 9 in January 2021. In 2016 Donat Morgan was made an MBE for services to British education in Spain. The school is a BSO member, is recognised by the British and Spanish authorities and has appeared in El Mundo's lists of the best international schools since 2011. It takes children from two to eighteen; all teaching is in English on the British curriculum, with Spanish language and social studies in Spanish, and German and French are added from Year 5. In the sixth form pupils sit A-Levels and, if they are going to a Spanish university, the subjects of the specific part of the Spanish access examination. The school's values are respect, responsibility and resolving problems; all income, it says, is reinvested in the school. The school publishes its fees itself, in euros.

About the fees The school publishes its fees itself, for the 2026-2027 school year, in euros: tuition is paid in ten monthly instalments - 519 euros in Early Years and primary (Nursery - Year 6), 574 euros in secondary (Year 7-11) and 668 euros in the sixth form with preparation for the Spanish examination (Year 12-13), that is 5190, 5740 and 6680 euros a year. Together with the annual enrolment fee the school gives annual totals of 5709, 6314 and 7348 euros. Fees and lunches rise with the price index. Discounts: 2 percent for a second child, 20 percent for a third, 50 percent for the fourth and further children, and 3 percent for paying the year in advance by 20 August.
Admissions To apply, the family fills in the forms, visits the school and meets the director. In Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 (2-6 years) English is not required; from Year 3 (7 years) the child sits entrance tests showing whether they could follow lessons comfortably, and every applicant spends a taster day at the school. After successful tests, registration is completed. New families pay an entrance fee; a place on the waiting list requires half of the enrolment fee. Children who need Spanish as an additional language receive separate support classes, and the school writes of its pupils that they are used to learning alongside children of different nationalities.
Stages and year groups Grades Nursery (2 years) - Year 13 (18 years). Four departments: Early Years from 2 to 4 on the British EYFS programme in an English-speaking setting, primary (Key Stage 1-2), secondary - Key Stage 3 (Year 7-9) and Key Stage 4 (Year 10-11) with GCSE and IGCSE - and the sixth form (Year 12-13). From Year 5 children learn German and French, in Year 7 they choose one and continue it to GCSE. Spanish language and social studies (geography and history of Spain) are taught in Spanish. In the sixth form pupils choose four A-Level subjects, and for Spanish universities add two subjects of the specific part of the examination. The school day in Early Years and Key Stage 1 runs from 8:45 to 15:30, in Key Stage 2 to 15:45, in secondary and the sixth form from 8:35 to 15:45; early drop-off from 7:30 and after-school care to 17:30.

What stands behind each entry

CambridgeCambridge International Education

Part of the University of Cambridge. It allows a school to teach the Cambridge programmes and to enter pupils for the exams. There are four stages and they are authorised separately: primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A Level. If the stages are known they are named in the line below; if that line is missing, the school does not publish them, and the Cambridge registry does not show stages either - it gives only the name of the centre, the country and whether private candidates are accepted. Cambridge calls what it does registration rather than accreditation, and the network holds about ten thousand schools.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: IGCSE (ages 14-16), A-Level (ages 16-18). IGCSE means exams at around Year 10 or 11, the British counterpart of a lower secondary leaving certificate. A-Level is the senior years, and their results are what British and many other universities admit on.

No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
