Emirates International School - Meadows opened on 10 September 2005 in the residential community of The Meadows, close to The Lakes and Dubai Marina, and this year marks its twentieth anniversary. It began with KG2 to Year 10 and now takes pupils from Early Years 1 to Year 13, that is from three to eighteen years old; it holds more than 1,830 pupils of more than 85 nationalities. The school is a fully authorised IB continuum school, rated "Very Good" by the KHDA and accredited by CIS. It reports Diploma results above the global average, and among its leavers' universities are Stanford, Oxford, King's College London and the University of Toronto. Its provision is solid and listed in detail: more than 85 classrooms, nine science laboratories, three rooms each for art, drama and music, two examination halls, a library, a covered 25-metre swimming pool with changing rooms, two PE halls, a gym, an astro turf, an inquiry area, a dance and ballet studio and a Samsung innovation lab; two rooms each for English as an additional language and for inclusion are named separately. Admission runs all year under KHDA rules, and the school states plainly that it considers pupils from schools where English was not the language of instruction and pupils with special educational needs. Admissions Admission runs all year: the school admits pupils throughout the year subject to KHDA guidelines and the availability of seats. It states plainly that admission from other domestic or international schools is inclusive and that pupils from schools where English is not the first language of instruction, and pupils with special educational needs, are given due consideration. The admissions office is open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 15:30 and on Friday from 8:00 to 12:00; the admissions policy is published as a separate document. The academic year starts in September and ends in June.
Stages and year groups Grades Early Years 1 to Year 13 (ages 3-18). The stages run right through from Early Years 1 to Year 13, that is from three to eighteen years old: the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma. The school opened with KG2 to Year 10 and built out its stages later. The day: Monday to Thursday from 7:30 to 16:00, and Friday until 12:00.

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Al Habtoor Group is a UAE conglomerate in which schools are one of six divisions, alongside hospitality, automotive, vehicle leasing, real estate and publishing. The site habtoor.com dates the group to 1970: «What started out as a small engineering firm in 1970, is today one of the region's largest and most respected conglomerates». On schools it is brief and speaks of operation: «The Al Habtoor Group operates two of Dubai's leading IB curriculum schools», and names both - «Emirates International Schools (EIS) has two schools - the first, Jumeirah, opened in 1991 and the second, Meadows, in 2005». The division page repeats the dates: «Emirates International School - Jumeirah was established in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates in 1991», «EIS - Meadows officially opened its doors on 10th September 2005»; student numbers are given for the second school only - «more than 1500 students from KG 1 to Grade 13». Ownership is not separated from operation, and nothing on the site describes the schools as the group's community service.
