IES Navarro Villoslada is a state secondary school in the west of Pamplona, between the San Juan, Ermitagaña and Mendebaldea districts; it opened in October 1971. It runs compulsory secondary education (ESO) as a multilingual centre, two Bachillerato tracks (science and technology; humanities and social sciences) and, since the 2015-2016 school year, the IB Diploma Programme, the first in a state school in Navarre. In ESO social sciences, mathematics, ethics, technology, art, physics and chemistry and computing are taught in English; the curriculum also includes German, French and Basque. The IB programme is taught in Spanish, with English as language B, in three variants: social sciences, and sciences with a health or an engineering focus; IB pupils prepare for the PAU at the same time and have 31-32 lessons a week instead of 30. There is an evening section. According to the school's blog, 122 pupils have obtained the IB diploma in ten years. The school runs a quality management system, a school-life committee with a mediation team, a theatre workshop, an orchestra, the ADN magazine and debating leagues in Spanish and English.

About the fees The school is state-run and calls its IB programme an offer within state education; it names no tuition fees, and education in Spanish state schools is free. On the pages read the school says nothing about IB exam fees.
Admissions The school writes nothing specific about admitting international pupils. Admission to ESO, Bachillerato and the IB programme follows the general pre-registration and enrolment procedure of the Navarre Department of Education; the school publishes the deadlines on its home page and holds open days every year.
Stages and year groups Grades 1st year of ESO (age 12) - 2nd year of Bachillerato / IB Diploma (age 18). Stages: ESO (4 years, a multilingual programme with some subjects in English), Bachillerato in two tracks and the IB Diploma Programme since the 2015-2016 school year in three variants (social sciences; sciences with a health focus; with an engineering focus). What stands behind each entry

IBInternational Baccalaureate

A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.

What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: DP (ages 16-19). DP is the final stage, ages 16 to 19: six subjects plus a compulsory core of theory of knowledge, an extended essay and CAS. The diploma is accepted by universities all over the world, and in a number of countries it counts for admission on the same footing as the local leaving certificate.

"Scored on disclosed data" stands where we count only what the school has written about itself on its own site: exams and destinations, safety and wellbeing, teaching staff, facilities, clubs and activities. A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives. The full methodology →
