International School of Ghent (ISG) is a non-profit international day school in Ghent; the school describes its importance for families in East and West Flanders. It opened in September 2012 with ten pupils in a single classroom above a Flemish school, and since 2016 it has occupied a purpose-built facility on De Pintelaan next to Ghent University. Children are admitted from two and a half years old: the Lower and Upper Pre-Primary groups and the Primary school follow the International Primary Curriculum, while the ISG+ Secondary School, opened in 2023, follows the IB Middle Years Programme; it currently covers Years 7-10, and the school plans to add the Diploma Programme in the near future. Teaching is in English, children with little or no English receive extra support, Dutch is taught by specialist teachers, and swimming and music are part of the curriculum. Over 35 nationalities are represented; besides families moving to Flanders for work, "More and more Belgian families are also choosing an international English-language education for their children". Lessons run from 9:00 to 15:30, until 12:00 on Wednesdays.

The school serves families moving to East or West Flanders for work, Belgian families seeking an English-language education, children building their English skills before a move abroad and families returning from overseas. The steps are: explore the curricula, visit in person or virtually, complete the Enrolment Contract and Pupil Application form, then pay the Registration Fee to secure the place. Children starting with no or a low level of English receive extra learning support, with a learning support teacher and classroom assistants.

IBInternational Baccalaureate
A Swiss non-profit, working since 1968. Its programmes are among the most widely recognised school programmes in the world. Authorisation is granted stage by stage, so a school with the final stage does not necessarily run the younger ones; which stages this school holds is set out in the line below.
What the badge means for this school. The school is allowed to run this programme and to award its certificate. This is a confirmation of the programme, not a judgement on the school as a whole. The entry stands in the organisation's public register - anyone can check it. At this school: MYP (ages 11-16). MYP is the middle stage, ages 11 to 16. There are no exams here either; at the end an optional electronic assessment of pupils' work is possible.

International Primary Curriculum: a British primary school programme for children aged 5 to 11. It teaches through themes that draw subjects together rather than through separate subjects; it is published by the International Curriculum Association, formerly Fieldwork Education.
What this means for this school. This is a programme for the primary stage, not an accreditation of the school: the organisation sells it to schools and trains their teachers, but it does not check the quality of teaching at a particular school and keeps no public register of the schools working to it. There is no outside register to check it against, so the entry comes from the school's own words or from the record of its accrediting organisation. The programme has no leaving certificate: at the end of primary school a child moves on to the middle stage, and it is that stage which decides what they finish with.
Exams and destinations from the school's official website
The school publishes nothing about where its leavers go: no share going on to university, no exam results, no list of universities.

Reviews
No reviews yet. The community rating counts towards the score once a school has five verified reviews - until then we do not show a zero, so as not to mislead.

A low score here means the school does not write about this, not that the school does not have it: a school with good security and a sparse site will score low. A school can fill in its profile, and the score will be counted again.
The score is counted from 8 of the 9 criteria.Only those with checkable data count: programmes and accreditations from official registers, the fee from a published price list. Where it says "scored on the median", the school has no data and the middle of the list is put in its place, so that a gap gives no advantage. Admissions, teaching staff and reviews come in as their data arrives.
